The Traffic Office is responsible for managing and developing Stockholm's public spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, accessible, and sustainable. The assignment covers everything from caring for the existing urban environment to implementing strategic investment projects and planning for tomorrow's growing metropolis. To fulfill our mission, we have approximately 500 colleagues, primarily located in the newly renovated premises of the Technical Council House on Kungsholmen. Welcome to us
Urban Space Development is a unit within the Urban Environment Department of the Traffic Office, responsible for the development of the city's public spaces. The unit consists of area managers (landscape architects), district coordinators, and experts in heavy rainfall, safety, urban gardening, and stormwater.
The Traffic Office collaborates closely with the district administrations, primarily on local urban environment and safety issues. This includes matters concerning changes and collaboration regarding the physical urban environment from a safety perspective. Over the past year, the office has developed its working methods to be an even better partner to the districts.

Your role
In the role of district coordinator, you are a key link between the Traffic Office and the district administrations. Together with other district coordinators, you will work on both the Traffic Office's and the districts' issues with the aim of contributing to more pleasant urban environments and increased safety for the district's citizens.
You will be responsible for driving work forward in selected districts. This includes, among other things:
- Identifying and coordinating needs and development of specific areas within the district.
- Leading and planning area meetings where the districts and area managers (traffic planners, lighting managers, operations managers, etc.) from the Traffic Office participate.
- Collaborating with local businesses and other relevant actors in the districts, such as the police and property owners.
- Coordinating and resolving issues related to the urban environment, such as maintenance, operations, traffic, and lighting. Investigating various issues is a large part of the work.
- Driving projects/assignments that do not have a clear home base within the office.
- Initiating collaborations and driving the development of places.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant university or vocational education, preferably in urban planning or similar education assessed by the employer as equivalent.
- Experience working with issues related to the development of traffic and urban environments, development/exploitation, maintenance, and operations.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
- Work experience with the City of Stockholm.
It is meritorious if you have experience with:
- Coordination experience with multiple different parties, similar to that described above.
- Category B driver's license.
- Project management with good results.
- Work with or related to detailed development plans.
- Work with safety issues.
For this position, it is important that you are good at listening and weighing different perspectives against each other from a holistic perspective. We also see that you are accustomed to creating contacts and maintaining relationships. You have the courage to create and test new accessible paths with sensitivity to the organization, the assignment, and the situation. It is also important that you enjoy driving and planning your own work.
