Department of Clinical Sciences

Ruminant medicine encompasses the diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, and prophylaxis of diseases in ruminants (primarily cattle, sheep, and goats) at both the individual and herd levels.

We are looking for an engaged Associate Professor in Ruminant Medicine with a strong interest in teaching, course development, and clinical practice, as well as opportunities for involvement in research and doctoral education.

About the Job

The main responsibility of the position is course leadership within the Veterinary Medicine Programme. The role involves planning, scheduling, budgeting, implementation, and further development of courses, including the development of new course modules and pedagogical approaches. Teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels may be included. Instruction is primarily given in Swedish and includes group discussions, lectures, seminars, demonstrations, and practical exercises, as well as supervision of student theses and master's theses within the subject area. The employment also includes coordination and administrative tasks, for example related to student issues, courses, teaching modules, and clinical practice. There is also an opportunity to be involved in research, as well as the possibility to serve as the Director of Studies for doctoral education.

Your Background

Qualifications:

The candidate must:

• hold a Swedish veterinary license
• have a PhD in veterinary medicine
• possess a valid B-class driver's license
• be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

• experience in teaching, preferably at the university level

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education within the scientific fields of veterinary medicine, animal care, and animal science. The department's activities primarily concern our common Swedish domesticated animal species (livestock) with a focus on anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal medicine, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and animal reproduction.
