The Orthopedics Department at Helsingborg Hospital operates in both Helsingborg and Ängelholm. The focus in Helsingborg is on emergency services, while Ängelholm is an elective production unit. Both locations have outpatient clinics and inpatient wards. The department also includes a rehabilitation unit that supplies the entire hospital with occupational and physical therapists.

At our department in Ängelholm, we work with elective orthopedics, hip and knee prosthesis surgeries, as well as uncomplicated lumbar spine surgery. We also have, to some extent, an elective pathway for urology and gynecology. Here, we work in a planned and structured manner according to the planned flow, and patient stays are short. The department currently provides 24/7 care from Monday to Friday and is closed on weekends. The outpatient clinic in Ängelholm focuses exclusively on orthopedics, with traditional outpatient work regarding pre- and post-operative visits as well as admission prior to knee, hip, and back surgeries.

The department in Helsingborg works with emergency orthopedics and has intake 24/7. We primarily work with emergency surgeries, pre- and post-operative care. We treat both young and elderly patients with various orthopedic diagnoses and care needs. The pace is fast, tasks are varied, and no two days are alike.

Job Description

As a nurse on the inpatient ward, you work with pre- and post-operative care with a focus on health promotion. You work actively in pair care with nursing assistants. Additionally, you collaborate closely with physical therapists to minimize complications and provide the patient with the security and self-help support needed to return home. The role includes some outpatient work, including your own nurse-led clinic, telephone counseling, and preparatory visits before surgery. It may also involve working at one of our units in Helsingborg during vacation periods.

We believe in the patient's ability to recover and take an active and supportive role. For the patient, this means intensive training supported by staff, leading to rapid recovery. At our facility, patient stays are short, averaging one day, which means most patients are discharged within one to two days.

As a new nurse with us, you will rotate between ward and outpatient work, but the initial focus is on becoming confident in ward work. We care that you, as a new employee, will enjoy working with us and settle into your role in the best possible way. You are offered an individually tailored introduction adapted to your previous experience, competencies, and wishes. Even during the introduction, you will have the chance to learn the work at both the Orthopedic Outpatient Clinic in Ängelholm and the Orthopedic Ward in Helsingborg.

Qualifications

We welcome you if you are a licensed nurse with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. Experience working in orthopedics is a merit, as is experience in urology, gynecology, and/or surgery.

In elective care, the work pace can vary; therefore, this is a job for you if you are flexible and have a good ability to prioritize your tasks.
