Do you want to work with legal issues that affect the daily lives of children, students, and guardians in our preschools and schools? We are now strengthening our legal expertise within the Agency and Support division and are looking for an experienced lawyer who wants to work both operationally and strategically in a broad role close to the operations.

The role of Lawyer with us

In this role, you will be a key legal support for both the operations and the administrative management. You will work with individual cases and broader issues where law, operations, and development meet.

The assignment includes, among other things, investigating complaints at the principal level, preparing statements and responses to supervisory authorities such as the Swedish Schools Inspectorate, the Children and Student Ombudsman, and the Equality Ombudsman. The role also involves providing legal support, advice, and training to principals and colleagues at the central level, as well as ensuring quality and supporting the unit's own exercise of authority, for example in the supervision of independent principals, supplementary grants, and disclosure of public documents. Furthermore, it includes participating in and sometimes leading development work that spans several operational areas, as well as following new legislation, case law, and changes in the external environment to strengthen the administration's preparedness.

The administration is on a journey of development where digitalization, AI, and new ways of working create both opportunities and legal questions. You will explore this area together with colleagues and contribute legal perspectives to issues concerning data protection, confidentiality, information security, and responsible use of AI.

Your profile

As a person, you are accommodating in your approach and sensitive to your surroundings. You are analytical and confident in your legal expertise. You can independently investigate complex issues and translate legal assessments into clear decision-making materials. You have a good ability to make well-founded trade-offs between quality, legal certainty, and efficient processing.

Since the role involves many contact surfaces, you need to have an easy time building trust and collaborating with different target groups, such as principals, guardians, authorities, and colleagues in other support functions. You communicate clearly and pedagogically, both verbally and in writing, and can explain legal assessments in an understandable and professional manner even in situations where decisions may be sensitive or questioned. You take responsibility for your work, drive issues forward, and are happy to contribute to developing working methods and processes together with others.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university or college degree in law, at least three years.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish legislation and at least five years of work experience in applying Swedish law in practice.
• Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as well as to formulate legal assessments in a clear and target-group-adapted manner.

It is meritorious:

• Experience in legal work within the education sector/school law issues within the Swedish state or municipality.
• Experience in providing legal support in issues related to digitalization, AI, data protection, or information security.

About us

You will become part of the Agency and Support division within the Preschool and Primary School Administration. We are 14 employees with different specialist competencies and are responsible for both central exercise of authority and administration-wide support.

We work with, among other things, school and preschool placement, school transport, supervision of independent operations, and processing of supplementary grants. We are also responsible for legal support, board administration, registry, complaint handling, data protection, and information security.

This means that you will become part of a division where law, operations, administration, and development meet – and where many issues require collaboration between different competencies.
