We receive approximately 30,000 visits per year and handle acute illnesses in children and adolescents around the clock. All children and adolescents up to 18 years old with acute medical, orthopedic, and surgical complaints are cared for from a humanistic holistic perspective, encompassing medical, nursing, psychological, and social-pedagogical aspects. Patients range from minor ailments requiring only advice to life-threatening conditions requiring intervention by a multidisciplinary team activated via the hospital's alarm organization. We work with the best interests of the child and family at the center, following the guidelines of the Nordic Association for the Needs of Sick Children (NOBAB).

We use the Triage Handbook, RETTS, and practice guidelines, and collaborate closely with primary care, the adult emergency department, pediatric wards at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP). Together with pediatric nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, receptionists, secretaries, and counselors, we strive to provide the best possible care for each individual child. RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking forward to welcoming two colleagues to our team at the Pediatric Emergency Department in Malmö!

As a nurse, alternatively a pediatric nurse or emergency nurse, you will perform common tasks at a pediatric emergency department. This includes triaging to the appropriate level of care, handling, and treating acutely ill children. In addition to direct patient care, all employees are involved in continuing to develop and improve care at our unit.

At our department, children are always the focus. Information and conversations with parents and children are an important part of our work. An ambulance with a critically ill child can arrive at any time, requiring us to rethink and work systematically as a team in our emergency room.

Our unit managers, specialist nurses, ensure that you as a new employee receive an individually adapted introduction program, including follow-up meetings with an assigned supervisor. The length of the introduction is adjusted based on experience and competence. Occasionally, we may receive a newly graduated nurse each semester, in which case a 12-week introduction is offered. You will then have the opportunity to participate in a clinical base year focused on pediatric care together with all newly graduated employees within the pediatric medicine area. For employees who have not previously worked with children, we offer an educational program focused on pediatric care. We work with continuous competence development, and all employees undergo ongoing mandatory training such as CPR and emergency exercises, internal training, workshops, and observation at other units.

Nurses at our department have a quota-based working time model, meaning you plan your schedule. The more quota time (inconvenient working hours) you allocate, the shorter your working time will be. Over ten weeks, this can result in a working time reduction of a full week.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with permission to practice in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. It is an advantage if you have specialized education in child and youth care or emergency care. We view it positively if you have previous experience working with child care and/or emergency care.
