I am a 27-year-old man with cerebral palsy (CP) and I am looking for personal assistants to help me take life to the next level together. I need help with everything in daily life. I communicate using an eye-controlled computer, so it is important that you enjoy talking to me through this technology. Therefore, you must be fluent in speaking and understanding Swedish.

About the position:
I am looking for you who can jump in for hourly shifts around the clock – both day, evening, weekend, and awake night. There is a position of approximately 50 percent covering day, evening, and weekend. You should be able to work throughout the summer. In the future, there may be an opportunity for a permanent position with a rolling schedule for day and evening work. If interested, there is also an opportunity to take on responsibility for staffing (on-call duties) and increase working hours.

My outlook on life is that "nothing is impossible," and I focus on solutions rather than obstacles. I have my own apartment in Råcksta, where I will live together with my personal assistants. (I am currently staying with my parents in Hässelby during the transition period).

My interests:
My family means a lot to me, and I enjoy spending time with my older siblings and nieces/nephews. I am a big Hammarby fan and love watching football, bandy, and handball. Music is another major interest – I enjoy playing bass, listening to music, and going to concerts. If you also play music, it is a plus, but not a requirement.

I am active in a running group where you, as my assistant, are my arms and legs and push my wheelchair forward. In the winter, I ski in my own way, and several times a week I swim at a swimming club – where you are also my arms and legs!

About you:
I am looking for you who are positive, secure, and happy in your role as a personal assistant. You are tidy, punctual, and a team player who puts my needs first. You should be receptive, able to work both in a team and independently, and interact well with me and my network. Flexibility is crucial – this is not a 9-to-5 job, but the work follows me wherever I am.

Being punctual, able to plan and structure the work, as well as being physically strong and enjoying training and music, are significant merits. As an assistant, you should focus on me and my life choices. It is important to me that you see the positive and happy guy I am behind my CP disability. Humility and a view of the job as developmental and rewarding are appreciated. I am looking for both men and women – the most important thing is that you are grounded and confident in yourself.

Staffing/On-call duties:
The position includes an extended (and compensated) staffing duty. This means that during certain weeks, you must be reachable outside of regular working hours to either call in a substitute or step in yourself in urgent situations. This is Assistans i Balans's way of ensuring that the client always has a familiar assistant by their side. The duty is shared among all assistants who work according to a regular schedule.
