About the unit
The Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters and the Economic and Operational Control Department of the Defence Staff are now looking for a Staff Assistant. The role involves supporting the department with administrative tasks, including IT system administration. We welcome your application!
The Director General of the Swedish Armed Forces is responsible for the economic control of the Armed Forces. The Economic and Operational Control Department (EVS) is the unit under the Director General responsible for preparing cases within the areas of operational development and economic control.
Main responsibilities
- Provide administrative support in project organizations.
- Support the department by assisting at meetings.
- Ensure that dispatch services are carried out according to current regulations.
- Assist in the staff's case management, including sorting and follow-up.
- Support the department with administrative tasks.
- Support the department with preparations and execution of regular work meetings, conferences, and planning seminars.
- Actively participate in the staff's development work.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Completed national service with good grades.
- Experience from working in a military staff and dispatch environment.
- At least a completed upper secondary education with good grades.
- Excellent ability to express yourself in speech and writing, in both Swedish and English.
- Excellent social skills.
- Good knowledge of the Office package.
Personal qualities
The position as GSS/K in the Defence Staff requires the ability to work with high precision in complex situations and processes, sometimes under tight deadlines. Therefore, you need to be stress-resistant, structured, and have a well-developed ability to take responsibility and initiative. You should be quick to learn new knowledge.
You will interact daily with a large number of people, which places high demands on your social competence, teamwork skills, and service mindset. At the same time, you must possess high integrity, attention to detail, and a strong security awareness. We consider it a given that you share the Swedish Armed Forces' value base. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience from the influence system in the Swedish Armed Forces.
- Service in the international forces or within the voluntary defense.
- Experience as a commanding officer (Kommendant).
- Experience in other service-oriented administrative work.
- Category B driver's license.

The Chief of Defence and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent oversight units.
Employment with us involves placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be war-placed.
