At the Navy Radio, you will work with live operations and exciting tasks to contribute to Sweden's defense. We value our colleagues and offer excellent opportunities for professional development.

The place of employment is Muskö, but the role involves duty at both Muskö and Karlskrona. The job occasionally requires travel as part of the service. If you are positive, meticulous, and flexible, you could become one of us.

About the Unit

The main task of the Naval Staff is to lead, develop, and maintain naval units. Our mission is to operate 24/7, year-round, to be able to meet any threat at any time, both along the coast and at sea.

The Naval Staff's headquarters are established at the Muskö Base in the Stockholm archipelago, but we also have a presence in Karlskrona, Gothenburg, and Visby. The unit conducts exercises and operations nationally and internationally. This requires us to operate in various types of environments and situations. As a sailor/soldier at the Naval Staff, you are an important piece of the puzzle for the Navy to fulfill its tasks.

Main Responsibilities

The Navy Radio has modern communication command centers located in mountain bunkers, whose main task is to ensure the Swedish Armed Forces' communication with military units, both via fixed systems and radio. The Navy Radio participates in and supports national and international live operations, exercises, and test activities. The operation runs 24/7, year-round, which implies scheduled shift work on both weekdays and weekends. During shift work, you work relatively long shifts. Overnight accommodation is available. Normally, you work a continuous shift scheduled either during the day or at night, followed by time off. During exercises and other circumstances, the schedule changes to fit the current operations.

Necessary training will be provided.

  • 3-year upper secondary education or equivalent as assessed by the employer
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Good experience working with IT-based systems, primarily in a Windows environment

Personal Attributes

The position as a communication operator places high demands on social competence and teamwork skills, the ability to switch between low and high workloads, as well as good initiative and high stress tolerance.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

  • Currently serving or previously served primarily on board Navy vessels in communications/command roles, or within the rest of the Armed Forces in the communications/command systems area
  • Radio certificate or communication skills
  • Knowledge of radio communication and wave propagation
  • Signal security training
  • Rakel training
  • Driver's license B (manual transmission preferred)

For the authority's mission to be successful, all employees are expected to act according to the established value system.
