Military College Karlberg is seeking a Company Commander for the Cadet Battalion
At the Military College Karlberg (MHS K), basic officer training for cadets is conducted within the framework of the three-year Officer Program (OP) led by the Swedish Defence University (FHS). The OP leads to a professional degree of 180 higher education credits and the rank of Second Lieutenant upon employment in the Swedish Armed Forces (FM).
In parallel, the Cadet Battalion conducts military professional training during what is known as the Swedish Armed Forces period (FMT), which includes leadership and individual development, military skills, and physical training. The Cadet Battalion supports the Swedish Defence University in implementing the Officer Program, primarily regarding exercise planning, safety, and logistics during exercises.
The Cadet Battalion consists of a battalion staff and three cadet companies. The cadet company is established following the Swedish Defence University's admission of cadets to the Officer Program and continues throughout the three years of education at the Military College Karlberg.
The cadet company consists of a commander, a deputy commander, platoon leaders (staffing assignments), and approximately 350 cadets admitted to the Officer Program.
Main Responsibilities
- Leads own company.
- Leads the cadets' individual development process, including follow-up, guidance, and mentoring.
- Responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of the company's courses/activities within the framework of the Swedish Armed Forces period (FMT).
- Collaborates with and supports the Swedish Defence University's course activities during the program period with military application moments and exercises.
- Responsible for the company's administrative activities related to cadet allowances and benefits, cadet housing, course literature within the framework of FMT, transport, and military logistics (equipment, weapons, storage) regarding cadets, activities/operations during FMT, and tradition activities.
- Responsible for the company's financial management in the form of budgeting, forecasting, follow-up, and reporting of activities according to appointment.
- Responsible for law enforcement at the company.
- Responsible for personnel services for platoon leaders and cadets, including follow-up of professional officers regarding employee interviews, development plans, and salary negotiations.
Qualifications
- OF 2 (Second Lieutenant)
- Previous work in a supervisory position (direct leadership).
- Experience in personnel responsibility and planning.
- Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
Meritorious
- Comprehensive understanding of work and studies at a university is meritorious.
- Previous experience with financial responsibility.
- Documented good leadership with grade/reference.
- Foreign service.
Personal Qualities
You have a good ability to organize and plan your own and your company's work from different time perspectives and paces.
You should be structured and solution-oriented, finding the way forward on any problems that arise, to contribute support to the joint operations.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
