We are looking for you to become our School Counselor

We are now looking for you who want to work as a school counselor at Realgymnasiet Trollhättan. As a school counselor with us, you are an important part of the student health team and work based on the School Act's mission, focusing on students' well-being, development, and conditions for learning. You work closely with teachers, school management, and other professionals within student health to create a safe and supportive school environment.

You work both promotively, preventively, and remedially, where relationship-building is a central part of the assignment. We would like you to be a present adult in the students' daily lives and actively build relationships by being close to the operations.

The duties include, among other things:

• Individual student conversations and support contacts
• Collaboration with guardians and external actors
• Promotive and preventive student health work
• Work with group-strengthening measures and safety-creating activities
• Bullying investigations and absence investigations
• Collaboration with educators and the student health team regarding students' goal achievement

The position is a permanent employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period. The assignment as a counselor has an employment level of 20% but can be combined with other assignments at the school depending on interest and competence. For example, it can be combined with the role of APL coordinator and possibly parts of a special education teacher assignment. In total, there is an opportunity for an employment level up to 80%.

APL Coordinator

As an APL coordinator, you follow the students out at their workplaces and become an important link between the student, supervisor, and school. You work with follow-up, tripartite meetings, and support students in their development during APL periods. You also handle issues regarding well-being, conflicts, workplace changes, and risk assessments of new APL placements. This is a role for you who appreciate variation, relationship-building work, and the opportunity to follow students' development throughout their entire upper secondary education.

Qualifications

To be considered for the assignment, we see that you have:

• Relevant higher education within, for example, the social work program, behavioral science, social pedagogy, or similar as assessed by the employer as equivalent.

It is meritorious if you have previous experience of the assignment as a counselor within school operations. It is also meritorious with experience of working with young people, preferably within upper secondary school.
