What we offer you
The role of Social Secretary within Financial Assistance is an incredibly exciting, enjoyable, and challenging job. As a Social Secretary with us, you are a crucial link in the chain towards our common goal of supporting the municipality's residents to achieve their own sustainable livelihood.
At the Social Services Administration, a fascinating process is underway across all units based on the new Social Services Act that came into force in July 2025. Together, we have great opportunities to help shape how the work will look in the future to meet the intentions of the legislation. Additionally, work is ongoing to meet the new legal requirement introduced on July 1, 2026, regarding stricter activity requirements for those receiving financial assistance.
- 36-hour work week.
- Wellness allowance.
- Possibility of holiday exchange, where you can swap holiday pay for more holiday days.
- Annualized working hours, which means the possibility of flexible working.
- Possibility of remote work depending on operational needs.
- Continuous training including learning breakfasts, legal aid breakfasts, and supervision.
The Role
Some of your tasks will include:
- Investigating and assessing the right to financial assistance and handling appeals.
- Mapping the individual's needs and matching them with suitable interventions.
- Creating individual plans together with the individual.
- Close collaboration with colleagues in other units and external partners to design the best possible support for the individual.
Challenges and Opportunities
We are society's ultimate safety net, which means you will encounter residents with various, and sometimes complex, needs. The target group is not homogeneous, and the reasons for needing financial support can vary widely. This can range from insufficient parental benefits, unemployment, exclusion from the Social Insurance Agency, or substance abuse issues. The goal of our work is always to support the resident in achieving their own sustainable livelihood, but the path there can look very different from person to person.
We have high expectations of ourselves and our residents. We work on the principle that residents should take responsibility for their own life situation, while simultaneously addressing their unique needs. This implies a balanced approach between setting demands and motivational work.
What you need to bring
Requirements are:
- A degree in Social Work (Social Work degree) or another higher education qualification that the employer deems equivalent.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
- Good documentation skills.
It is also meritorious if you have:
- Experience in authority exercises within financial assistance.
- A driver's license (Category B) is desirable as Norrtälje is large in area.
Great importance is attached to personal suitability in the recruitment for this position. We are looking for you who have the competence to contribute to our operations regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, age, ethnic origin, religion or other belief, sexual orientation, or disability.
