In the center of Grästorp lies the municipality's only Service Housing facility, which consists of a base apartment for staff and approximately 12 fully equipped apartments in the surrounding area. Here live adults who need support and supervision. The individuals' need for support and the type of support they require vary from person to person. The staff group consists of 6 people working as Support Assistants.

Being a Support Assistant in Grästorp Municipality means continuous development. We assume that you are engaged in both your own professional development and the development of the operations, that you always keep the user in focus, and that you are curious, interested, and unafraid of digitalization and technical solutions as support in your work.

We are looking for a Support Assistant for a one-year temporary position starting in August, or as agreed. The position is primarily based at Österlånggatan 7, a service housing facility with a central location in Grästorp. Many live in the same apartment building, while others live within walking distance from the base apartment. The staff working at the Service Housing are a flexible group with good experience in caring for people with different needs.

Your Role

Your main task as a Support Assistant is to provide users with the support they request and need, based on implementation plans. You collaborate with other operations and authorities that the users have contact with. The tasks include contact with relatives, working from a holistic perspective, and helping the individual achieve the highest possible quality of life and independence. Social documentation and communication are important parts of your work, as it involves ongoing documentation and responsibility for implementation plans. The work demands high requirements for pedagogical, structured, and clear work, as well as patience and sensitivity. It is very important that you engage, motivate, and guide the users, thereby supporting them in being an active part of society and in control of their own lives. You should be flexible and have the courage to make your own decisions and find solutions on the spot.

Since everyone has different needs, support will be provided in various ways. A typical day might involve waking someone up, reminding them to brush their teeth, helping to prepare breakfast, helping them get dressed and leave for their activities. Some are reminded to go to work, while others are helped to prepare meals for the week. In the afternoons, we help cook dinner, and once a week we help with cleaning and grocery shopping. Some need to exercise, go for a walk, or get to the dentist. Sometimes we come up with activities, go to the forest to grill sausages, or why not visit the pizzeria!

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have a basic education at the upper secondary level, equivalent to the Child and Youth Care or Care and Nursing program with an emphasis on disability or psychiatry, or other education that the employer deems suitable. You are well-versed in different types of functional variations.

You have a great interest in working with people. You are computer literate and used to documenting, you are creative, and used to working in a low-affective manner. Since communication and documentation are important parts of the operations, the work requires that you master the Swedish language in both speech and writing. As a person, you are positive, sensitive, engaged, and outgoing, and have the ability to work pedagogically, solution-focused, and independently.

Success in the work is based on your ability to create and maintain good relationships with both users, their relatives, as well as colleagues and other collaboration partners. You are responsible, competent, reliable, and have personal maturity and inner security. Experience of similar tasks is meritorious. Since many of our users like to cycle, it is meritorious to be able to cycle. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

Information

The working time amounts to a full-time equivalent of 38.25 hours per week. The working time is mainly scheduled during daytime, which may also involve work in the afternoon or late afternoon, but can also be scheduled for evenings and weekends if needed. Work is also performed on public holidays as per the current schedule. Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.
