Your new team

In this role, you will become part of our newly established Data & AI Center, which has a clear mandate: to drive and increase the use of data and AI to enable data-driven decisions in all Axfood companies and processes. Axfood has long worked with both AI and ML, but with this group, we are creating better conditions to drive the technology more broadly across the organization. The group is responsible for developing and maintaining AI models and AI applications, from generative AI solutions like agents and chatbots to classic ML models, ensuring they function in our core processes. Here, we work with modern platforms, exciting projects, and a strong focus on innovation.

About the role

As an AI Engineer, you will develop and maintain in-house developed AI solutions that become part of Axfood's IT systems and applications. You will work closely with the business to understand needs, translate them into technical solutions, and contribute to making AI a natural part of our processes.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Develop and maintain AI models and applications (ML and GenAI) as part of our IT solutions.
• Work with the entire chain: from design and development to production deployment and MLOps.
• Contribute to establishing best practices for AI development and delivery.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Tech Product Owners, and Delivery Leads to create scalable solutions.

We are hiring several people for the team and are therefore open to different seniority levels and specialist competencies. The exact responsibilities in the role will therefore be adapted to those we hire.

Does this sound like you?

In this recruitment, we will hire several people and are therefore interested in various seniority levels. However, to succeed in the role, you need to have at least a couple of years of experience in similar areas, such as Data Science or machine learning. You also need prior experience in developing your own AI solutions.

Furthermore, you need to have:

• Experience in developing and implementing AI solutions as part of IT systems.
• Knowledge within ML/AI, generative AI, and preferably experience with MLOps and DevOps.
• Ability to work with the entire development chain – from design to operations.

It is a plus if you have experience leading backlog refinement or design work for AI solutions. As a person, we believe you are curious, solution-oriented, and enjoy collaborating in an environment where not all pieces are in place yet. You are part of starting something new that shapes the future of Axfood.
