Employment Consultant focusing on Young Adults (16–29 years)

Strömstad Municipality is a small and close-knit organization where everyone is important and works together to deliver the best possible service.

Within the Social Services Administration, we work together to ensure that those we serve are given the opportunity to live a good life based on their unique circumstances. Every day, we create meaning in everyday life, provide support where it is needed, and take responsibility for creating safety and a good life throughout life.

The Employment Unit in Strömstad Municipality is part of the Work and Livelihood Unit within Individual and Family Care. The unit also includes economic assistance and integration. We work closely together with the individual in focus and place great emphasis on collaboration to create sustainable paths to work, studies, and self-sufficiency.

The Employment Unit works to strengthen individuals' opportunities for establishment in working and community life through individualized support, collaboration, and interventions that create conditions for work or studies.

We are now looking for an Employment Consultant focusing on young adults (16–29 years). The position has a special focus on young adults who are far from work or studies and involves individualized, motivating, and coordinating work in close collaboration with various actors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Employment Consultant focusing on young adults (16–29 years), you work to strengthen young people's opportunities for establishment in working and community life. The target group consists mainly of young adults who are far from work or studies and who often need support from several actors simultaneously.

In the role, you work close to the individual with a focus on motivating, guiding, and creating conditions for steps towards work, studies, or other meaningful activity. You meet young adults based on their needs and circumstances and contribute to creating structure, motivation, and confidence in their own abilities.

An important part of the assignment is to coordinate support and contacts around the individual. You act as a support in meetings with various community actors and work in close collaboration with, among others, adult psychiatry, social services, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and educational providers to create a more cohesive support system. The work includes outreach, motivating, and coordinating interventions, as well as mapping, planning, and follow-up together with the individual.

You will also collaborate closely with the rest of the Employment Unit's operations to create pathways towards internships, studies, or work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Building relationships and motivating young adults.
  • Conducting mapping and creating individual plans.
  • Supporting individuals in contact with authorities and other community actors.
  • Coordinating interventions together with internal and external partners.
  • Conducting outreach work to reach the target group.
  • Contributing to creating pathways towards internships, studies, or work.
  • Monitoring the individual's development and planned interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have a genuine commitment to working with young adults and who believe in the individual's potential for development and change. You have the ability to build trusting relationships and thrive in a role where collaboration, motivation, and individualized support are important parts of the work.

Requirements:

  • University education in, for example, social work, behavioral science, social pedagogy, pedagogy, occupational therapy, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Experience working with young adults or people in need of support.
  • Experience with motivational and change work.
  • Experience collaborating with other actors or authorities.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Good digital competence.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

Meritorious:

  • Experience working with young adults who are far from work or studies.
  • Experience with mental health issues or psychosocial problems.
  • Experience with labor market interventions, internships, or study-oriented support.
  • Experience with outreach or relationship-building work.
  • Experience with coordinating work between different operations and actors.
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI) or other motivational approaches.

To thrive and succeed in the role, we believe you are relationship-building, secure, and have an easy time building trusting contacts. You work independently and structured while enjoying collaboration and creating good relationships with others. You are flexible and solution-oriented and have the ability to meet people based on their different needs and circumstances.

Personal suitability is given great weight.

Type of employment: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent.

In connection with the recruitment process, we have taken a stance on recruitment channels and marketing. We therefore expressly decline contact with media sellers, recruitment sites, and similar.
