About the workplace

Ersta Diakoni's sheltered housing is part of Ersta Diakoni and is Sweden's largest non-profit actor in care and social services, guided by a clear value foundation – seeing the human being.

We operate two sheltered housing facilities in different locations for different target groups. Our goal is to support women and children who have been exposed to violence and give them the opportunity for a safe start to a life free from violence. Our facilities have high security standards, and we always act based on our value foundation: seeing the whole person through professionalism, trust, and hope.

Ersta Fristad is a sheltered housing facility for women exposed to violence, with or without accompanying children. Placements with us are always made on assignment and in collaboration with social services. All assignments are adapted individually based on the needs of the women and children.

The placed children have the opportunity to participate in children's activities during the placement period. The children's activity is open on weekdays and employs two educators whose task during the day is to normalize, stimulate, and activate. There is also a child coordinator at the facility who has additional responsibility towards the children and maintains close cooperation with guardians and the children's activity team.

We are located in Stockholm County, but we accept women with or without accompanying children from all over the country. We welcome and respect all religions.

You will be part of a work group consisting of various professional categories, such as social workers and treatment assistants, under the leadership of a team leader and operations manager.

About the role

In your role as a treatment assistant, you work based on Ersta Diakoni's value foundation. You receive emergency placements, perform security planning, document cases, and serve as a stable person who supports women and children based on their individual needs.

We collaborate based on the woman's situation with social services and authorities to achieve sustainable future planning based on the woman's opportunities. Together with the work group, you support the woman in her journey towards a life without violence.

We work therapeutically with everyday situations and environments as the basis for change work. We place great emphasis on meaningful stays, and an important task is to participate in and encourage leisure activities.

Working hours are scheduled for evenings/nights and every third weekend. The shift is from 20:10 to 08:10 with on-call sleeping duty between 24:00 and 06:00. The position is 57% full-time equivalent.

This advertisement concerns a permanent position starting in August 2026. We apply a probationary period of the first 6 months of employment.

Who are you?

As a person, you are structured, secure, flexible, solution-focused, self-reliant, and accustomed to taking personal responsibility for your tasks. You are sensitive and handle difficult meetings with warmth and patience. You perform all parts of the work, both practical and theoretical, with great engagement and an empathetic approach.

You are a good role model who shares Ersta's value foundation of seeing the whole person and our core values: professionalism, trust, and hope.

Your experience

We are looking for you who:

  • have a post-secondary degree as a treatment assistant, social pedagogue, or equivalent degree
  • have knowledge about intimate partner violence and honor-related violence
  • have previous experience in social work
  • have good knowledge of current legislation

We would appreciate if you have previous experience working in sheltered housing or with violence-exposed individuals in other ways.

Due to the nature of the work, we do not accept male applicants.
