The Youth Unit is organized into different teams for reception, investigation, intervention, and placement. We work with investigations and follow-up of interventions according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU), and we follow the structure in BBIC. The target group for our operations is young people aged 13-20 (with the exception of our reception team which works with children and young people aged 0-20), their families, and networks.
We are now looking for an engaged social secretary who wants to make a difference to our placement team!
About the job
The placement team consists of seven social secretaries, a group leader, a contract secretary, and two crime coordinators. As a social secretary in the team, your task is to follow up on young people who have been placed in HVB (residential care for children and young people), SiS (Swedish Prison and Probation Service), in a treatment family, or in supported housing, according to SoL or LVU. You are expected to build a relationship and working alliance with your young people and, where applicable, guardians, push for the young people to receive good care, and meet young people and parents to the greatest possible extent. We place great emphasis on regularly meeting our young people, which means we travel a lot in the service. We have close cooperation within the team and a high commitment to our target group. We have regular supervision and strive for an egalitarian approach, both within the team and with our young people and parents.
Your profile
We are now looking for an experienced social secretary in the field of children and young people. You have a degree in social work and preferably previous experience working with placed young people. You like to follow young people in the treatment process up close and over time, you never lose hope, and you stand firm when things get stormy. You have good knowledge of the legislation in our area, you can prioritize and make your own assessments, but you do not hesitate to consult colleagues. You have good cooperation skills and an approach characterized by respect and commitment. You also need to have good skills in expressing yourself orally and in writing.
This is a task that gives back a lot but also sometimes takes a toll, you need to have an inner acceptance that you cannot always do everything and a belief that small steps will pay off in the long run. You also need to be able to take care of your own well-being and set boundaries for your commitment to stay and be there for the young people over time. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
