About Torpskolan

Torpskolan is a traditional school located in the center of Lerum, close to both transportation and shops. Approximately 75 staff members work here, with high qualifications and great commitment. We strive to offer our students a high-quality education so that each of them can develop their unique character. The school has a student health team consisting of school nurses, counselors, school psychologists, special needs educators, special education teachers, and school psychologists. The student health team works closely with the teaching staff to give students the best possible conditions to achieve high academic results. The school accommodates approximately 650 students in grades 6-9 and is currently being renovated to eventually become a preschool to grade 9 school. A completely new sports hall will also be ready by autumn 2024. At Torpskolan, we have high expectations of our students and each other, just as our guardians and the rest of society have of us. The school's three units are led by their own principals.

Responsibilities

As a special education teacher in literacy and writing development at Torpskolan, you are passionate about the well-being, health, and development of children and young people. Your responsibilities include being an active part of our support organization, where students receive support in smaller settings from both teaching teachers and our special education teachers/special needs educators. You are also an active part of our student health team, where you, together with other professionals, plan and carry out student health work for the student cases on the student health agenda. You conduct pedagogical assessments and mappings. You collaborate with other professionals within student health to establish the routines and frameworks that student health work at our school is based on. You participate in result follow-up and plan new interventions at both individual and group levels based on the results. You collaborate with students, guardians, educators, principals, and other school staff, as well as other actors the school comes into contact with. You also continuously provide support to mentors in their work with extra adaptations and special support.

You also contribute to seeing the big picture, both from an individual, group, and organizational perspective, and it is natural for you to work with and contribute to our systematic improvement work and the overall development of the school.

Qualifications

We are looking for a positive person with a primary school teacher degree and a special education teacher degree in literacy and writing development. Previous experience as a special education teacher is highly meritorious. It is important that you are also a secure and independent person who upholds the values on which the school is based. You have a great commitment and are passionate about finding the key to helping students reach as far as they can towards all the school's goals, as well as in their social development. You have good communication skills and the ability to create and maintain trusting relationships with everyone you meet in your professional role. You are skilled at both collaborating and working independently and thrive in an environment that places high demands on responsibility, flexibility, initiative, and service. You have a positive attitude and the ability to turn arguments and problems around to find development opportunities in the varying challenges of the operations. You like order and structure and work systematically. You are driven and want to develop both yourself and the organization you work in.
