Stockholm – our capital city of millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone who lives here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and different with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

Järva is looking for you who want to be part of an exciting journey! The Reception Unit for Children and Young People is part of the Early Social Support area and is a section of the Promotion and Preventive Social Measures department. The area and department were created as part of the transition to the new Social Services Act, where we, among other things, want to offer early support to children, young people, and parents.

We are a district that strives to be at the forefront and develop our operations in line with the needs of the residents in Järva. Our unit consists of employees who enjoy working in reception, care for each other, and contribute to creating job satisfaction and a sustainable work environment. Quotes from employees: "Colleagues are considerate, helpful, and knowledgeable. There is a lot of experience, but everyone wishes to continue developing. Laughter, hanging out, and that everyone respects each other." "Everyone contributes their competence as a joint team, which means we come up with good solutions for the individual child/young person."

We offer

Järva offers you a workplace with experience and broad competence within the field of children and young people, and we strive to create good conditions for you as a social secretary to thrive and develop in your work.

At the Reception Unit for Children and Young People in Järva, you will help develop work for close collaboration within our Early Social Support area to detect and offer support to families who come into contact with us at an early stage. We offer you a tailored introduction, regular check-ins with the group leader and unit manager, as well as internal and external case handling guidance.

To ensure you have a good working life with us, there are several benefits for you as an employee. Read more about our benefits Benefits for employees - City of Stockholm (#).

Your role

The Reception Unit for Children and Young People receives reports and applications for children and young people aged 0-20. The role includes:

  • Making initial safety assessments, handling reports and applications, providing information, consultation, advice, and guiding people to the right authority within social services and/or other activities.
  • Collaborating with other authorities and cooperation partners, such as schools, preschools, police, and the region.
  • Working based on an on-call operation where some work may also take place outside regular working hours. Most of the work is based on the unit's joint planning of cases, but more urgent cases also occur where flexibility and a good ability to adapt are strengths.
  • Functioning as an ambassador for social services and having a respectful and good attitude towards the people you come into contact with. Our employees and managers have a strong drive to find new paths and methods in their work. As a social secretary, you can make a difference by contributing your ideas, your engagement, and courage.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • A degree in Social Work (Social Work degree).
  • Knowledge of current legislation carried out according to the Social Services Act (SoL), the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU), and other relevant legislation.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing as a large part of the work consists of documentation, case recording, and administration.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of investigation work and case handling within social services, preferably with children and young people using the BBIC method.
  • Experience of other authority exercises.
  • Training in Signs of Safety.
  • Knowledge of the data system Paraply.
  • Category B driver's license.

Since the work usually involves meeting people in crisis and/or with a complex life situation, it is important that you yourself can see opportunities, convey hope, and treat people in a respectful manner. You listen and adapt to the recipient and the situation. It is also important that you can work flexibly and plan, structure, and take initiative to drive your work forward. Furthermore, you contribute to good cooperation by having an open, accommodating, and problem-solving approach.

We will begin the selection process during the application period, and interviews may take place on an ongoing basis. In the recruitment, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

To work in the City of Stockholm with children and young people, you need to show an extract from the criminal record.

The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at looking at each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.

We recruit without a cover letter to strengthen the focus on competence and experience for this role. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions. When we assess your application, we base it on your CV and the questions you have answered. After the last application day, we go through all applications.

We see diversity as enriching and welcome all applicants.
