Job Responsibilities

At our reception unit within the social services, you will encounter varied and meaningful work where no day is like the other. Here, we work together in areas such as children and youth, adults, financial assistance, family law, estates, housing adaptations, national transport service, and administration.

As a student employee with us, you will work at the reception unit with the main focus either on CoY (Children and Youth) or financial assistance/adults. Regardless of which area you have as your main focus, you will meet the citizens who are referred to the reception and be their first contact with the social services.

The tasks may include, among other things:

  • preliminary assessments.
  • investigating individuals' entitlement to financial assistance.
  • handling emergency requests.
  • meeting individuals seeking protection and support in various forms.

As a student employee, you work closely with regular staff and group managers, who continuously support and guide you in your work while you contribute to helping citizens and offering them necessary support.

About the Workplace

The Social Services Board's mandate is to offer individualized support and services within elderly care, disability services, children and family, adult services, as well as financial assistance. We are here for the residents of the municipality through all stages of life and work to create security, participation, and good quality of life.

The Reception Unit is the hub of the Social Services Board's operations and is the face of the organization. For many citizens, the unit is their first contact with the board, which places high demands on professionalism, accessibility, and customer service. We are proud to offer a secure, welcoming, and high-quality service.

The unit consists of 26 employees and is led by a unit manager together with three group managers responsible for administration, children and youth and family law, financial assistance and adult services, including housing adaptations, national transport service, and estates.

We are now looking for you who want to work as a student employee with us. You are driven, engaged, and have a genuine interest in social work as well as a desire to contribute to the development of the operations. Here, you get the opportunity to develop and build valuable experience. The work will mainly be focused on the areas of children and youth, financial assistance, and adult services.

What We Are Looking For in You

To succeed in the role, you have:

  • are studying to become a social worker (socionom)
  • experience within public administration, for example from a field education period (VFU)
  • good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience working in a reception group
  • experience working with children, youth, or adults
  • knowledge of Signs of Safety and Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • knowledge of a language other than Swedish.

As a person, you are calm, stable, and flexible. You have good teamwork skills, can build relationships, and communicate clearly. You will work with short contacts and acute situations, which requires that you can quickly adapt to new situations. You have good ability to plan, organize, and structure your work. You have personal maturity and can distinguish between the professional and the personal. You maintain a realistic perspective on situations and have good self-awareness.
