Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, offering a unique combination of nature's quiet beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, elderly care, and many more. We work to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We aim to make the dream of a vibrant and secure environment for homes, families, and businesses a reality.
To succeed fully, we need diverse competencies and must work together for a common and trust-based work culture, built on brave and responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents.
Social Secretary for Family Services
Since January 2024, Värmdö Municipality has implemented a project where working hours are scheduled between 2024 and 2026 so that social secretaries work every seventh Friday. The other Fridays are your days off.
The unit currently consists of social secretaries divided into the groups Investigation and Intervention, Family Care, and Family Law, led by four group leaders and a unit manager. We are now looking for an engaged and experienced social secretary for Family Care. In the autumn, an organizational change is planned where Family Care will develop into a placement group with a consolidated responsibility for monitoring children and young people placed outside their own homes, for example, in foster homes, emergency homes, residential care facilities (HVB), secure care (SiS), and supported housing. The change has not yet been implemented but will influence the focus of the role over time.
Your main task as a social secretary in the group is to follow up on the care of placed children, including aspects such as schooling, health, and the child's well-being. The follow-up is conducted through home visits, individual conversations with the child, and contact with guardians and networks. As the planned organizational change progresses, the role will gradually include monitoring placements in various types of care. You are responsible for your own cases independently. Your team colleague, the foster care secretary, investigates, follows up, and mentors foster homes. The work is led by group leaders who provide close support, and external supervision is offered.
The Family Care group describes itself as a bouquet of different personalities who get along, are flexible, and have a high tolerance for humor. There is strong collegial cohesion, and colleagues often take a joint walk around the beautiful nearby lake during lunch.
Värmdö Municipality is a smaller municipality with high accessibility to managers and leaders for decisions and support. Family Care has a group leader dedicated to the unit. We offer airy and fresh premises with access to private rooms.
You can commute to us easily and conveniently in 30 minutes by direct bus from Slussen, which runs every 10 minutes. If you choose to drive, the same route takes approximately 20 minutes.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in Social Work (Social Work).
- At least 2 years of experience as a social secretary within child and youth authority enforcement.
- Documented experience in following up on placements outside the home according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU).
- A driver's license (required as travel occurs in the role).
- Good administrative skills and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
Meritorious
- Experience as a child's ombudsman (barnsekreterare) within family care.
- Documented experience working with Signs of Safety.
- Experience in investigating and mentoring foster homes.
Personal qualities
To succeed in the role, you are flexible and have the ability to build trusting relationships. As a person, we are looking for you who are positive and solution-focused. You have a strong drive to do what is best for those we serve and for the operation as a whole, and you appreciate the varying pace the work entails. You dare to think new thoughts and want to contribute to the development of the operation. We place great emphasis on your personal suitability for the position.
The employment is for an indefinite period and is full-time. Start date as agreed or as soon as possible. Interviews will be held continuously during the recruitment period.
In Värmdö Municipality, in addition to the schedule for free Fridays, we offer a number of benefits such as bright and nice premises, free staff parking, flexible working hours agreements, holiday exchange, and wellness allowance.
Värmdö Municipality offers a wellness allowance, an SL card against net salary deduction, and holiday exchange for extra days off. We actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good work environment and apply smoke-free working hours.
We strive for a balanced gender distribution and see diversity as a strength, welcoming applicants with different backgrounds.
