Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, offering a unique combination of nature's quiet beauty and a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, elderly care, and many more. We work to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who make the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for homes, families, and businesses possible.

To succeed fully, we need diverse competencies and must work together to build a common and trust-based work culture, built on courageous and responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the citizens.

Department of Social and Elderly Care, Division for Individual and Family Care

Since January 2024, Värmdö Municipality has implemented a project where, during the period 2024–2026, working hours are scheduled so that you, as a social secretary, work every 7th Friday. You have the other Fridays off.

During 2025, the case load within child and youth investigations has been around 10 ongoing investigations as the main investigator per social secretary – clearly below our target value of 12–15 cases per investigator.

This creates very good conditions for a sustainable work environment, while allowing us to focus fully on our core mission – ensuring every child's needs with high quality, legal certainty, and good goal fulfillment.

Our Operations

At the Child and Youth Unit, we work with public authority functions concerning children and young people, focusing on ensuring that children and young people have a secure and stable upbringing. Our mission is to investigate children's situations and make legally sound assessments according to the Social Services Act and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU). The work is based on BBIC, and we actively involve children, families, and networks in the process. As an approach, we use Signs of Safety, placing great emphasis on identifying the family's own resources and solutions.

Leadership is characterized by accessibility and closeness to the operations. Team leaders and unit managers are available as support in daily work, contributing to structure, quality, and development in the mission. We actively work to create a sustainable work environment where support, collaboration, and reflection are a natural part of the work.

Your Mission

As a social secretary in the investigation and intervention group, you work with public authority functions concerning children and young people. Your main mission is to investigate children's situations and make legally sound assessments according to the Social Services Act and LVU. The work involves gathering information through conversations with children, guardians, and networks, as well as through collaboration with, for example, schools, healthcare, and other authorities.

You are responsible for planning, conducting, and documenting investigations according to BBIC, as well as formulating assessments and decision materials. The work also includes writing statements to other authorities and contributing to ensuring that the family's own resources and networks are utilized in the work.

You work in a team together with a colleague and have close support from the team leader in daily work. The role entails significant personal responsibility for driving cases forward in a structured and legally secure manner. At the same time, you are expected to contribute to the team's joint work through collaboration, reflection, and knowledge sharing.

We expect you to work from a professional and respectful approach in meetings with children, young people, and their families, and to actively contribute to the development of the operations and a good work environment in the group.

Your Experience

  • Social Work Degree (Social Worker)
  • At least three years of experience in public authority functions within social services' child and youth care.
  • Experience handling and investigating cases according to the Social Services Act and LVU.
  • Basic training in BBIC.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).
  • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
  • Documented experience in conversations with children and young people.

Meritorious:

  • Basic training and experience in working based on Signs of Safety.
  • Training in or experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Experience in coordination or work with SIP (Individualized Plan).
  • Experience working in the business system Combine.

Your Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who thrives working independently and taking responsibility for their own work. You are motivated by delivering high-quality work, where each investigation is characterized by thoroughness, legal certainty, and a genuine commitment to the best interests of the child. At the same time, you are someone who truly appreciates collaboration – you are happy to share your knowledge, reach out to colleagues when needed, and contribute to a secure and open team climate. You are structured in your way of working and have the ability to keep order in a varied case flow, plan your work thoughtfully, and meet the demands for documentation and follow-up that public authority work entails.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Application

We look forward to your application and hope you want to become part of our operations. Selection and interviews take place continuously during the recruitment period, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
