We are looking for a part-time personal assistant for one of our clients, a 14-year-old boy with autism who lives with his family in Malmö. Are you a cheerful, playful, pedagogical, reliable, and flexible person? Then we are looking for you!

Here is what the parents say about their son, his care needs, and what they expect from you as an assistant.

We are looking for a personal assistant for our cheerful 14-year-old son who likes to be on the go. Our son loves being outdoors, whether on long walks or visiting playgrounds. He enjoys bathing at the pool and the beach, as well as playing at home with his plastic animals and trains. He likes taking the bus and the train. (He attends riding therapy every other weekend and enjoys the car ride there.)

Our son has autism and an intellectual disability. He does not have spoken language and communicates using picture support, body language, sounds, and gestures. He needs help with personal hygiene, dressing, and meals. He also needs support in developing communication skills to create an active daily life filled with things he finds fun and meaningful.

The Assistant's Role and Experience

In the role of his personal assistant, you will help with play and activities, care, and communication. The care consists of helping with meals and hygiene, as well as any medication. You need to be attentive, able to interpret his signals, and convey what he wants to communicate.

We are looking for a person with plenty of energy to keep up with our son's activity level and who enjoys being outdoors a lot. Good physical fitness is therefore a must. You should have good self-awareness, teamwork skills, and a respectful attitude, as the work takes place in our home and you need to function well with both our son and the rest of the family.

Working hours are primarily distributed over weekends and occasional afternoons and evenings as needed, as our son is at school during the day.

Previous experience as a personal assistant and/or education in autism and intellectual disability is advantageous. Knowledge of low-affective interaction and the ability to work supportively with communication is also advantageous, but the greatest emphasis is placed on personal suitability and that you and our son get along well.

You must be a non-smoker and fluent in Swedish. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Advantageous Experiences

• Trained nursing assistant is an advantage.

• Valid driver's license (Category B).

Working Hours/Employment Degree

• Part-time employment 50%.
• Start immediately.
• Working hours are scheduled for afternoons, evenings, weekends, and school holidays.
• During the summer months of June, July, and August, you must be able to work an average of 30 hours per week.
• Work shifts: School weeks on weekdays 16:00-21:00, weekends and holidays 06:45-13:00, 13:00-21:00. – Extra shifts if needed due to the regular assistant's sick leave or vacation.
