About the Role

As a teacher of Cook and Restaurant at Astar, you teach adult students both practically and theoretically in courses within the upper secondary specialization of restaurant and food. You lead the teaching based on the Astar model, where clear steps, controlled understanding, and structured guidance create the best possible conditions for students' learning, security, and professional development.

You plan and carry out teacher-led instruction that gives students the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to work professionally in kitchen/restaurant and food sectors. This means you alternate between practical sessions and theoretical walkthroughs to create high quality and clear progression in the education.

The role also includes actively sourcing, matching, and following up on workplace placements (APL) for the students. You build good relationships with businesses within, for example, restaurants, large-scale kitchens, and hotels to ensure relevant, safe, and developmental practicum environments. From the start of the education, you work closely with working life and support students on their path to employment, further studies, and professional identity.

The position is for a fixed term with great opportunities for extension as we expand.

Right now, we are looking for you who can step in as a substitute on an hourly basis and during the summer. However, with great opportunities for further employment after the summer.

We are looking for you with:

• At least 5 years of experience as a cook in a restaurant or large-scale kitchen.
• Previous experience in teaching and workplace placements (APL) is preferred.

It is highly meritorious if you are a trained vocational teacher within the specialization.
