The Department of Mathematics at Stockholm University consists of 38 permanent staff members, distributed across three divisions: Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, and Computational Mathematics. The Division of Mathematical Statistics conducts research in probability theory, epidemiology, biostatistics, actuarial mathematics, stochastic control theory, and statistical machine learning.

Project Description
We are seeking candidates in probability theory and statistics for a research project concerning large language models (LLMs) and point processes, with applications in predicting individual health states. The project is led by Docent Mathias Millberg Lindholm and is funded by a grant from the Verg Foundation.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is research as described in the project description. The position also includes a small amount of teaching, which may involve supervising students.
Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a relevant doctoral degree is required. The degree must be awarded no later than when the employment decision is made.
Assessment Criteria
It is meritorious if the doctoral degree or equivalent was awarded no more than three years prior to the last day of application. If there are special reasons, a previously awarded degree may also be considered meritorious. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, trust positions within trade unions, service in the total defense, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or service relevant to the subject area.
During the appointment process, particular emphasis will be placed on scientific proficiency in the research area specified in the project description.
About the Position
The position is full-time and permanent, but for a fixed term of at least two years and at most three years, with the possibility of extension if there are special reasons. Start date: 2026-09-01 or by agreement.
