About Us
The Women's and Youth Shelter Borås is an independent non-profit association that works for the equal value of all people in a democratic manner and from a gender equality perspective. The association's goals and operations are regulated by its statutes.
The Women's and Youth Shelter Borås has a protected housing facility providing places for round-the-clock stay intended for persons who need interventions in the form of protection against threats, violence, or other abuse, along with other relevant interventions. To the protected housing of the Women's and Youth Shelter Borås, we welcome adult persons regardless of gender identity (and accompanying children) who have experienced men's violence against women, domestic violence, or honor-related violence and oppression.
About the Position
We are now looking for a residential support worker for our protected housing. As a residential support worker, you work with people who need support with their daily living. You work largely independently but also in close collaboration with colleagues.
In the role, you will work with:
- Providing individual support, care, and service interventions based on the assignment.
- Working as a residential support worker during days, evenings, weekends, and nights, collaborating with colleagues, the board, and volunteers, and contributing to the development of the operations.
- Having a flexible approach.
- Acting according to the organization's values and approach to treatment.
- Keeping case records based on assignments and other important events regarding each client.
- Collaborating with your colleagues regarding the processes of the housing facility. Participating in logistics, staff meetings, supervision, and housing conferences.
- Supporting and helping residents in their daily lives to manage the housing environment, such as dishes, cleaning, and following our routines.
- Logging in and documenting in the logbook every day and answering the on-call phone.
- Being part of the assignment for emergency placements and admissions which may occur during the night.
- Handing over a verbal report when the day staff takes over.
Employment Conditions
We are now looking for an employee for a permanent position; we apply a six-month probation period. The position is full-time, and working hours cover days, evenings, weekends, and nights according to a rolling 4-week schedule. Night duty is sleeping on-call with access to staff on standby.
We apply individual salary setting and other compensations occur according to collective agreements. Access to the position is according to agreement.
Who are you?
As a person, you are service-oriented, attentive, and accommodating. The position of residential support worker also requires patience, flexibility, and sensitivity. You must be secure and stable in situations that can be stressful and challenging.

You who apply have social competence, can collaborate with others, and take responsibility for your work environment. We place great importance on personal suitability and the following competencies:
- Education as a social pedagogue, behavioral scientist, or other equivalent education deemed suitable.
- Knowledge within DV (Domestic Violence), honor-related oppression, and TMO (Traumatic Memory and Care).
- Knowledge of legislation regarding protected housing.
- Pedagogical insight into people's different prerequisites and the ability to adapt your communication accordingly.
- Experience working with people in crisis.
- Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing, as documentation is part of the work.
- A B-driver's license is required.
