Your responsibilities

The Department of Social Work conducts research, provides education at the undergraduate and advanced levels, and offers doctoral studies in social work, with the possibility of specializing in welfare law. The department's most extensive teaching assignment is within the Social Work Program (210 ECTS credits).

As a University Lecturer in Social Work with a specialization in Welfare Law, you will teach at both undergraduate and advanced levels. The teaching you are expected to conduct will primarily cover the legal areas central to the social work education and the relationship between social work and law, particularly regarding the understanding and development of methods for applying the law in relation to welfare law, which is primarily handled and applied by professions other than lawyers. You will supervise students, primarily on the Social Work Program and the Master's Program in Social Work. The work includes course design and course responsibility.

At the department, we strive for lecturers not only to teach but also to conduct research in areas relevant to the position. As a lecturer, a certain percentage of the position is dedicated to research and competence development within the framework of the employment. You are expected to write applications for funding additional research time together with others within or outside the department. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who have a PhD or equivalent scientific competence, and have demonstrated pedagogical skill, or other professional competence that is significant with regard to the subject content and tasks of the employment.

For this position, special emphasis will first be placed on pedagogical skill, and secondly on scientific skill and other skills which are assessed as equivalent to each other.

Regarding pedagogical skill, the following will be assessed:

  • The requirement for the position is documented skill in teaching, within higher education, in Social Work.
  • Particularly meritorious is documented skill in teaching in legal areas relevant to Social Work which are applied by professions other than lawyers.
  • Particularly meritorious is also having had course responsibility/worked with course development.
  • Meritorious is documented skill in teaching in Social Work.

Regarding scientific skill, the following will be assessed:

  • The requirement for the position is documented scientific skill in legal areas relevant to Social Work.
  • Particularly meritorious is documented scientific skill in the legal areas that are central to the social work education.
  • Particularly meritorious is documented scientific skill in the legal areas that are central to the relationship between social work and law with a critical approach to legal norm formation.
  • Meritorious is previous research within any of the legal areas of social work.

Regarding other skills, the following will be assessed:

  • Meritorious for the position is documented skill in collaboration within education and research.
  • Meritorious is good cooperation skills and the ability to contribute to the development of the work group, collegial working methods, and social community.
  • Meritorious is a structured way of working, by being able to plan, organize, and prioritize work in an effective manner.
  • Meritorious is creating and maintaining good relationships with colleagues and students in both your own environment and outside, within the scientific and pedagogical activities.

Since teaching and research are primarily conducted in Swedish, but also in English, you must demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in both Swedish and English.
