The Sami Education Authority (Sameskolstyrelsen) is a government agency with its office, including school director, controllers, HR, and case handlers, located in Jåhkåmåhkke.

The Sami School is an educational form equivalent to the compulsory school, offering education from pre-school class to grade 6. The starting point for the teaching is Sami culture and the Sami language according to the curriculum for the Sami School. The Sami Education Authority also operates preschools in agreement with the respective municipalities. The authority has operations in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sami Education Authority arranges distance education in the Sami languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sami education.

Job Responsibilities

As a childcare worker in the preschool, you contribute to driving, developing, and documenting the pedagogical work in accordance with the preschool curriculum and operational philosophy. Together with your colleagues, you plan, document, implement, evaluate, reflect, and analyze based on the activities in relation to children's development and learning, as well as the Sami perspective, both individually and in work groups.

You actively participate in developing successful learning environments together with the rest of the preschool staff. You also participate in other work tasks at the preschool alongside the staff. The childcare worker participates in play, movement, and activities, and assists with meals, dressing, and nap times. A large part of the activities take place outdoors on the preschool yard, both in winter and during the snow-free season.

As a childcare worker, you have supervisory responsibility for the children and must be able to move freely, even outside of cleared paths. While the preschool teacher holds the pedagogical responsibility, the childcare worker is also involved in pedagogical planning. Documentation and planning of various indoor and outdoor activities are important parts of the job.

Qualifications

• You are trained as a childcare worker or have other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• You are proficient in Sami, both orally and in writing.
• You are well-acquainted with the Preschool Curriculum.
• You enjoy being outdoors and using nature as a starting point for children's learning.
• You have experience with pedagogical documentation and systematic quality work.
• You are a positive and secure person.
• You can work independently and easily build good relationships with children and adults.
• You view children as competent and resourceful individuals.
• You contribute to the preschool's values-based work through a democratic approach that encourages influence and interaction.
• You see IT as a natural part of working with children and as a tool in systematic quality work.
• It is meritorious if you have experience working with children who, for various reasons, need special support in their development.

You have a positive view of humanity and the ability to build good relationships, as well as the ability to prevent and resolve conflicts. You are meticulous, flexible, and attuned to the children's needs, and you enjoy working with children and young people.
