Your responsibilities

As a University Lecturer in Psychology, you will teach at undergraduate and advanced levels in Swedish and English. The work includes course design, course responsibility, and teaching in the areas of health psychology, clinical psychology, psychotherapy, and research methods, as well as some supervision of degree projects on the psychology program. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is applied in the courses you teach.

The position also includes your own research within health psychology within the framework of an active research area at the department. The work often takes place in collaboration with other professions and subject areas, for example within medicine, physiotherapy, and behavioral medicine. The specialization in health psychology includes, regarding teaching, among other things, psychological processes in chronic pain, sleep, and audiological conditions, as well as the development and evaluation of psychological treatment methods for clinical application. Teaching also includes research methods and statistics. Teaching takes place mainly within the psychology program, the psychotherapist program, and standalone courses.

We assume that you are active within the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results via scientific publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding.

We are looking for you who actively want to contribute to the university's development work. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission. Collaboration within education takes place by planning, organizing, and implementing good education in interaction with actors from the surrounding society. Collaboration within research takes place by spreading, making available, and utilizing research.

In this position, the collaboration assignment has a special weight through the responsibility for the practice-based education (VFU) within the psychology program. The assignment means that in close collaboration with Region Östergötland and supervising psychologists, plan, follow up, and develop the VFU course so that it maintains high quality and corresponds to the education's goals. The work involves creating good conditions for students, supervisors, and workplaces, coordinating internship placements and supervision contacts, and contributing to a long-term and sustainable collaboration between the university and the healthcare sector.

Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally within your subject area and the general societal development that is significant for your work.

You share knowledge and contribute to the professional development of the work group, collegial working methods, and social community. Your qualifications

We are looking for you who have a PhD or equivalent scientific competence, and have shown pedagogical skill, or other professional competence that is significant with regard to the content and tasks of the position.

For this position, special emphasis will be placed first on pedagogical skill, second on scientific skill, and third on other skills.

Regarding pedagogical skill, the following will be assessed:

  • The requirement for the position is documented skill in teaching within psychotherapy and research methods.
  • The requirement for the position is competence that is relevant for teaching within health psychology. This includes both clinical experience of the subject and a broad research background regarding relevant conditions.
  • The requirement for the position is documented skill to independently plan, conduct, and examine teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels.
  • Particularly meritorious is a psychologist license since the position includes teaching and profession-oriented education within the psychology program.
  • Particularly meritorious is also documented pedagogical skill from small group supervision within the framework of Problem-Based Learning (PBL).
  • Meritorious is documented skill in supervising student work.

Regarding scientific skill, the following will be assessed:

  • The requirement for the position is documented skill in research within health psychology or a related direction, as well as publication in international scientific journals.
  • Particularly meritorious is current research with clear relevance for clinical application and rehabilitation.
  • Particularly meritorious is also documented skill in interdisciplinary research in collaboration with medicine, physiotherapy, or behavioral medicine.
  • Meritorious is research that includes the use of modern and relevant statistical methods for clinical research.

Other skills that will be assessed for this position are:

  • The requirement for the position is documented skill in collaboration within education and research, especially with actors within the healthcare sector.
  • To promote the psychology program's practice-based education (VFU), it is particularly meritorious to have good knowledge of, in particular, Region Östergötland's organization and structure, as well as established contacts with relevant activities within the healthcare sector.
  • Meritorious is skill in working at the interface between academia and clinical practice, and thereby demonstrated ability to build long-term collaboration relationships.

Since teaching and research take place in Swedish and English, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in both languages.
