International English School Krokslätt in Gothenburg is an established independent school founded in 2010. In August 2024, we moved to a fantastic new school building at Änggårdsbergen, where we also expanded our operations and changed the school's name to IES Södra Änggården. For the 2026/2027 school year, we will be a three-stream school covering grades F-9 (preschool class to grade 9).

At IES Södra Änggården, all adults are there for the students, where good relationships with students, staff, and guardians form the foundation of our work. For us, it is important that you are an engaged and competent role model who continuously wants to contribute to developing the operations together with your colleagues. At IES Södra Änggården, the students are the most important thing we have, and as a school counselor, you need to be driven and flexible to give the students the best schooling they can get. We have close contact with guardians and expect you to be positive and engaged in all aspects concerning our students during their time at the school.

Requirements:

• A degree in social work (socionom) or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Experience in school counseling or social work with children, young people, and their guardians.
• A responsible approach in your professional role and professional conduct in contacts with students, guardians, and colleagues.
• The ability to create and maintain good relationships.
• Structured and clear in your work, and comfortable working both independently and in a team.

What we offer:

Collaboration skills, stress tolerance, and a commitment to developing the operations are fundamental qualities. As a school counselor, you will work together with students, guardians, teachers, and the student health service to create a good psychosocial school environment. The goal of the work is for all students to reach their full potential in learning.

The work includes remedial, preventive, and promoting measures in the school. This may include individual conversations or support for students and guardians, being an active part of the school's work against harassment, bullying, or discrimination, or other standard school counseling tasks.

You will work in a cross-professional team, the student health service, where your knowledge as a counselor becomes an important part of the work with students and their networks. The duties also include collaborating with authorities and actors outside the school, for the benefit of the student.

Furthermore, the role includes some administrative tasks, such as reporting absenteeism to home municipalities.

We are part of the organization International English School in Sweden AB (IES), which is one of Sweden's leading independent schools with 48 different schools in Sweden. International English School follows the Swedish curriculum (upcoming LGR22).

Job description and employment:
