Skyddsvärnet – anno 1910 operates within the non-profit welfare sector, working with professional interventions that provide support for self-help, with the aim of preventing social exclusion throughout Sweden.

Qualified Family Home Consultant based in Borlänge

We are now looking for a driven and entrepreneurial colleague who wants to help us build our family home operations in Borlänge from the ground up.

This is a unique opportunity for you who have experience in social work and are passionate about business development. We are now establishing ourselves in Borlänge and the surrounding area, and you will be our first consultant on-site – meaning you will have true ownership over the development of the operations in the region. There are no ready-made structures to step into; you will build them yourself.

What does the role entail? The first and most important task is to establish Skyddsvärnet's presence in the region from scratch.

This involves:

• Building a local network and creating awareness of Skyddsvärnet among case workers within social services and the prison and probation service in Borlänge and the surrounding area.
• Mapping demand and identifying where the need for family home placements is greatest.
• Recruiting, investigating, and approving new family homes in the region – from first contact to final agreement.
• Receiving and matching the first placements from commissioning bodies.

Once the operations are running, you will work closely with the family homes, conduct home visits, and maintain regular contact. In the family homes, the resident receives support based on their specific needs, which may be rooted in criminality, addiction, substance abuse, neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF), honor-related violence, or care and protection needs.

The position involves extensive travel within the region and requires a high degree of personal responsibility and initiative. During periods when you are not traveling, there is an opportunity to work from any location.

Who we think you are

You are an independent person who enjoys creating something new and is not afraid to start with a blank slate. You are straightforward and clear, with good communication skills and a natural drive to build relationships and open doors. You are accustomed to taking initiative, seeing opportunities where others see obstacles, and are motivated by seeing a business grow thanks to your own efforts.

Your background

We would prefer that you are a social worker or behavioral scientist and have previous experience in social work – preferably within family home care, social services, or the prison and probation service. Since you are expected to build a local network from scratch, it is advantageous if you already have contacts or knowledge of the Borlänge/Dalarna region. Language skills in addition to Swedish and English are advantageous.

Since documentation is a large part of the work, it is important that you can express yourself well in speech and writing. You need access to your own car, and mileage allowance is offered.

Skyddsvärnet – anno 1910 offers emergency and family home care throughout Sweden, for all ages, and accepts all types of assignments. Together with our trained family homes, Skyddsvärnet can help individuals across the country to achieve a secure life and the opportunity to reintegrate into society.

We have offered family home care since 1981, working with all ages, regardless of background or issues. The family home care receives assignments from social services and the prison and probation service throughout the country, and we also offer family homes for individuals with protected identities. The operations also include a disengagement program as well as open care with relapse prevention. Skyddsvärnet currently has around 150 investigated and approved family homes spread across Sweden, with a special concentration around the Mälaren Valley.

About the position

The position begins with a probationary appointment which then transitions into a permanent position. Full-time (100%).
