Temporary Safety Officer for the Field Group, Borlänge
Within Borlänge's Individual and Family Care (IFO), there are four units: the Reception and Prevention Unit, the Child and Family Unit, the Unit for Social Interventions for Children and Young People, and the Unit for Social Interventions for Adults. The Field Group is organized under the Reception and Prevention Unit, which also houses IFO's Joint Reception, Dalarna Social Emergency Service, Southern Dalarna Family Counseling, Lot system, and a Promotion and Prevention Unit.
As one of our Safety Officers is going on parental leave, we are now looking for a temporary Safety Officer for our Field Group. There are currently four Safety Officers, one of whom has line management responsibility. The Safety Officers work closely with field assistants and collaborate with other employees within the Social Services' Individual and Family Care.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Officers work proactively and relationally by operating in places where young people gather, both within the school environment and outside of it. Through quick prioritization, they move flexibly across Borlänge and make interventions where the need is greatest. Safety Officers act with great flexibility to make rapid reprioritizations, meaning priorities are set week by week after reviewing the situation. Presence creates safety and calm among the residents of Borlänge. Establishing contact with young people and their parents is an important part of the work to find ways to prevent and manage destructive behaviors.
Safety Officers operate through good cooperation with key actors, including schools, businesses, police, security guards, and other actors in civil society that they encounter in their work.
As a Safety Officer, you work with rapid interventions, assessing and prioritizing where your presence is needed. Safety Officers refer cases to other actors and may also conduct home visits to speak with parents. The operation strives to have staffing that extends from morning until late evening to the greatest possible extent. Some weekend duty is also included.
As a Safety Officer, you will work:
- Proactively and relationally to create safety among young people in Borlänge.
- By establishing contact with young people and their parents to find ways to prevent and manage destructive behaviors.
- Providing help and guidance to young people and their families in problem situations.
- Creating safety by being visible in the arenas where young people are present.
- Collaborating with various actors to refer young people and their parents to available support services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic requirements for the position:
As a Safety Officer, you need to have a high school diploma and experience in social change work.
You must have very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both written and oral.
A B-driver's license is required as the operation shares a bus with field assistants to move quickly across Borlänge.
Personal qualities:
As a Safety Officer, you are required to have a large and genuine commitment to the target group.
You should be good at making contact with other people and be calm and confident in yourself. You are expected to act professionally and solution-focused in the situations you encounter in your work.
As a Safety Officer, you are expected to be able to take personal responsibility in your work but also be good at collaborating. You work closely with your colleagues, and therefore, good cooperation skills are of utmost importance. You also need to be able to collaborate with other actors you meet in your work. A curious and non-judgmental approach is a prerequisite for the position.
Meritorious qualifications:
Post-secondary education relevant to the position. We also consider it meritorious if you have experience in crime prevention work.
Knowledge of English or other languages is desirable. If you have knowledge of social media, it is meritorious as young people increasingly use social media as a communication tool.
Salary: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer, start: Temporary position for one year, start ASAP.
Working hours: Schedule.
