Storuman Municipality is a very large municipality in Southern Lapland by area. Approximately 6,000 people live here, with just over half residing in the urban areas of Storuman/Stensele and Tärnaby/Hemavan. Storuman is a municipality in development. We are in a highly expansive phase, experiencing the largest investment period since the hydropower era. The establishment of wind power, mines, vibrant small businesses, and a steadily growing tourism industry with extensive development in the mountain world are bringing positive winds to the municipality. The municipality offers a varied range of activities that enhance well-being. We offer beautiful mountain experiences in nature during winter and summer, a rich outdoor life with ski slopes, cross-country ski tracks, as well as excellent opportunities for hunting and fishing.

Job Responsibilities

The Social Services Department (IFO) in Storuman Municipality is looking for a Social Secretary on a 100% basis. IFO consists of regulatory authorities and open care and is led by a Business Manager. The regulatory authority consists partly of our Senior Social Secretary, who is responsible for receiving reports of concern and applications, distributing cases, and supervising case handlers and social secretaries, and partly of our economic and adult case handlers as well as our social secretaries within child, youth, and family law.

Within our open care operations, we offer housing support/family pedagogy, open care regarding violence and risky use/addiction, as well as support for relatives. We also have a family support service that offers, among other things, parent support training and the evidence-based method of family therapy CBT. We can offer support without prior needs assessment and provide a psychiatric social meeting place, Vändpunkten.

As a Social Secretary, you, together with your colleagues, are responsible for investigating and following up on interventions within child, youth, and family law. The work includes investigative and follow-up conversations with children, adolescents, and parents, documentation, and collaboration with our open care and other operations and authorities. Additionally, you are responsible for working towards the operation's goals, participating in continuous improvement work, and contributing to job satisfaction and safeguarding a good work environment.

At our workplace, you are assigned cases based on your competence and experience and are offered close support from both colleagues and the Senior Social Secretary, most of whom have long experience and solid competence. The Business Manager has served as a manager within the same administration for nearly eight years and works based on trust-based leadership, a governing philosophy built on giving employees responsibility, freedom, and trust, rather than detailed management and control.

You are given access to external supervision and opportunities for competence development based on your area of responsibility, including through "Yrkesresan." We have good cooperation with other inland municipalities, including through the digital platform "Digitala kollegan," which enables both competence development and experience exchange across municipal borders. We have office premises in both Storuman and Tärnaby; you choose yourself which of our two main towns you wish to base yourself from. There is an opportunity to work from home/remote 1–2 days/week. We offer you free accommodation for three months, a good starting salary, flexitime, fitness during working hours, as well as interesting and varied work!

In July 2025, the new Social Services Act came into force. The new legislation means a shifted focus from regulatory authority to early, preventive interventions and increased accessibility, a first-line social service. We are in the midst of this transition where we are reviewing and developing our working methods; you have the opportunity to be part of this exciting journey! We look forward to your application!

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Previous experience within regulatory authority for children, youth, and family law is meritorious, as well as good knowledge of current legislation. It is also meritorious if you have experience working in the business system Life Care. We are looking for you who are flexible and can work both independently and in a team. Important qualities for the work are a well-developed analytical ability as well as good ability to communicate verbally and in writing. We want you to be engaged and interested in working with people and change processes, and to have a good attitude towards clients, colleagues, and other contacts. You should have good ability to cooperate both internally and externally. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. A B-class driver's license is required.

Start date: 2026-09-01 or by agreement. The selection process may begin during the application period, so welcome with your application as soon as possible, but no later than 2026-05-17.

Salary: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Permanent position.
