The Youth Clinic in Umeå, together with the Youth Clinic in Skellefteå, is organized as a joint basic unit under Primary Care County Assignment. Those of us who work here are highly committed to meeting young people and young adults in the best possible way at an early stage. We work towards common goals and contribute to a secure workplace together, which means we have a clear mission and everyone takes significant personal responsibility for their individual work as well as for good collaboration. We are a mixed team with various professional categories. Our target group is primarily young people aged 16–22 who live or stay in Region Västerbotten. The operations are conducted in collaboration with the municipality's social services and the school health service. Our premises are located in the center of Umeå.

Youth clinics work to promote the sexual, physical, mental, and psychosocial health of young people.

In the area of mental health, we are an enhanced youth clinic from a national perspective. This means the clinic has enhanced competence to meet young people with mental health issues and offer early and shorter treatment interventions. Fundamentally, this means we work with the young person's mission in their entire context in an equitable and health-promoting manner. The youth clinic is a low-threshold service, and young people can seek help without a needs assessment. Youth clinics should also direct special interventions to young people with risk factors.

Job Description

In the area of counseling for mental health, everyone works with the same basic mission regardless of professional background. This means we work together to maintain good accessibility and high awareness that we are a low-threshold service, and that we should work preventively early on by meeting, assessing, and offering treatment interventions.

The position involves counseling with a focus on individual consultations at the clinic. We also offer digital visits and, in addition to physical clinics, have our own digital Youth Clinic Västerbotten for all young people in the county.

Interprofessional collaboration with doctors, midwives, and municipality employees at the Youth Clinic is common.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed healthcare counselor with basic psychotherapy training.

You should have experience and a strong interest in working with young people, both individually and in a team. Your approach is salutogenic; you see possibilities, are solution-focused, and utilize the young person's resources. You believe it is important to contribute to good collaboration with all professional categories at the workplace and with other actors.

You work independently and take responsibility for the whole according to the workplace's mission. Personal qualities such as being responsible, flexible, and structured are significant as the operations have high demand and rely on everyone contributing to the operations' goals.

We primarily seek you who have experience from working with young people/young adults. For example, if you have worked at a youth clinic or primary care first line.

It is also meritorious if you have worked within psychiatry or other operations with young people and young adults.
