About American High School, Gothenburg

Located on Lindholmen, next to the Karlatornet tower, is our newly built school where we moved in the autumn of 2024. Approximately 590 students study the Natural Science, Technology, Economics, or Social Science programs at the school. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English by a competent and driven teaching team with a strong sense of community.

About the Role

We are looking for a teacher who can teach our students in Physical Education & Health and English. You are passionate about teaching your subjects and want to help develop the teaching at the school. You will be responsible for planning, conducting, assessing, and evaluating your own teaching. You are expected to lead lessons based on our pedagogical structure, for which you will receive guidance. You will work closely with an engaged and tight-knit teaching team, where collaboration and collegial learning are an integral part of daily life. You will teach in a digital environment using digital learning materials in combination with traditional literature. Teaching at the school is conducted in both Swedish and English.

Mentorship for a class is also included in the position.

The position is a permanent 90% employment, starting with a 6-month probationary period. Start date August 3, 2026.

Your Profile

For this position, a Swedish teaching license is required, along with qualifications to teach Physical Education & Health and English. Experience in teaching, preferably at the upper secondary level, is highly meritorious. You have a strong commitment to teaching and want to help develop the operations together with a strong team of colleagues, and you share our pedagogical view:

We are looking for you who lead in line with our motto “Frames & Hugs”, which means clear leadership and clear rules combined with strong care for every student. You are expected to have good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. You have the ability to use a broad spectrum of digital learning materials and possess stable digital competence.
