Project Manager for "Trygg Basket"
West Swedish Basketball District Association (WDBF)
Svensk Basket has collaborated on a strategy focused on "being, growing, and winning".
We are now looking for a Project Manager for our Inheritance Fund project "Trygg Basket" on a 50% basis.
WDBF is one of Sweden's largest and fastest-growing basketball districts. We cover Västra Götaland County as well as the municipalities of Kungsbacka, Varberg, and Falkenberg in Halland County. The district is led by a board elected by the member clubs and has its office in Västra Frölunda with three full-time employees. Our main areas of activity are competition, education, development, and club support. Within our district, there are currently 65 active basketball clubs and over 8,000 active players.
About the project
West Swedish BDF, together with Skåne BDF, Småland-Blekinge BDF, and Stockholm BDF, has received funding from the Inheritance Fund to work on the "Trygg Basket" project over a three-year period.
The concept of "Trygg Basket" is basketball's equivalent to the Swedish National Olympic Committee's "Safe Sport" initiative.
The model includes many components that together create a safe, creative, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in the sport, in this case, basketball.
The project involves four district associations collaborating to develop a practical application (model) for basketball.
The project organization is governed by a steering group consisting of the district office managers, with oversight from the district boards and the Swedish Basketball Federation.
The operational work is planned, executed, and evaluated continuously by an operational group. This group consists of a project manager/project lead (appointed by Skåne BDF, 80% scope) and a project lead from each respective district (Småland-Blekinge 25%, Stockholm 100%, and West 50%).
The scope for each district is set according to the size of its activities.
Project Goals
The overall goal is a functional, equitable, and nationally anchored "Trygg Basket" model that increases safety and quality, and encourages more players, coaches, referees, and club activists to stay longer in basketball.
Impact goals for West Swedish BDF:
- Competence: At least 350 young coaches complete the Trygg Basket training package within three years.
- Retention: At least 1,500 new members after three years.
- Equity: At least 25 clubs hold Trygg Basket certification after three years.
- Involvement: At least 140 Trygg Basket ambassadors and coordinators are recruited, trained, and active in the district's clubs.
