Are you a caring and engaged person who wants to make a real difference in the life of a young girl? We are looking for a secure, responsible, and present personal assistant for an active and happy 11-year-old girl. The girl loves animals, especially horses. She rides in her spare time and enjoys spending time at the stable. She also likes to play around, play games, and dance. During weekends, the family sometimes goes to their summer house in Roslagen, which is about a two-hour drive from Stockholm.
The girl has difficult-to-treat epilepsy and a mild intellectual disability. This means she needs active supervision and requires someone by her side at all times. As an assistant, you need to be able to read situations, be aware of potential risks, and stay one step ahead to adapt the environment around her to remove any dangers during a seizure. The girl can usually express her needs herself and is clear about what she feels and appreciates, using picture support as a complement to speech. Play is how you capture her interest and motivation. As an assistant, you need to feel comfortable playing and being active with her.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for someone who is secure in themselves and can handle stressful situations and act quickly. You need to be focused, attentive, and have good reaction skills. We also see that you are comfortable in a stable environment and with horses, and if needed, able to run alongside when the girl is riding. The work takes place partly in the family's home, which requires sensitivity, respect, and the ability to adapt to others' routines and needs. You need to be able to be professional while also being a natural part of everyday life. The girl is a happy and energetic girl who loves to dance, play, and play games. She has a lot of imagination and moves easily between different activities during the day.
We see that you have an understanding of the girl's functional variations. The family always strives for the child to live as much like other children as possible, which is why it is important that you as an assistant share the same goal.
Things to consider: The girl has a mild intellectual disability and epilepsy, which means:
Daily seizures (often short but unpredictable)
Need for constant presence and attention
You need to be able to act quickly and calmly to prevent falls and injuries - During a seizure, the girl can fall quickly and without warning, which means you sometimes need to react immediately to prevent her from hitting her head.
Examples of common tasks:
Personal hygiene and care
Being present and adapting the surroundings for the client so she doesn't hurt herself if she has an epileptic seizure
Doing activities if the client wishes, such as going to the stable and riding, but also stable care such as mucking out the paddocks, taking a commuter train trip, or baking.
Playing board games
Your tasks may also include accompanying her to school and participating in daily activities at home. You need to be sensitive, responsible, and flexible.
Meritorious:
Previous experience in personal assistance or working with children/young people with functional variations.
Experience with epilepsy or neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF) is meritorious but not a requirement. Personal suitability is crucial.

We offer you a varied and meaningful job, where you as an employee are encouraged to make your own wise decisions. We have a large selection of digital training and other tools so that you can develop in your professional role. Of course, we also have a wellness allowance.
