The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on, among other things, cancer, genetic, and autoimmune diseases. One of the core principles of the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the activities are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several degree programs, standalone courses, and international master's programs within the Faculty of Medicine. The department generates approximately 550 million SEK, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is approximately 400, of which about 100 are PhD students, and there are a total of over 850 active staff members. Responsibilities

• Develop new computational, deep learning methods to integrate and analyze large-scale, spatially resolved RNA sequencing, imaging, and genotypic data using state-of-the-art technology.
• Work closely with experimental colleagues and cores to understand the nature of the generated data.
• Coordinate efforts across multiple organizations.
• Actively participate in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and present at scientific conferences.
• Provide mentorship for colleagues and students.
• Share expertise and provide training and guidance to group members as needed.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, computer vision, biotechnology, computational neuroscience, applied mathematics, or an equivalent foreign degree. The degree must be obtained at the time of the employment decision. Those who have obtained a PhD three years prior to the application date will be given priority for employment. The starting point for the three-year period is the application date. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, union duties, etc.
• At least two first-author articles published in journals with an Impact Factor (IF) > 10.
• In-depth conceptual or technical understanding of modern high-throughput molecular technologies in the life sciences (RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, immunohistochemistry, CRISPR/Cas, short- and long-read sequencing) is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, data documentation, and presentation skills are required.
• Experience in writing scientific articles for publication is required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is required.
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to work in a fast-paced team environment, are required.

About the position
The position is fixed-term for 2 years according to the central collective agreement, with the possibility of a 1-year extension. The scope is full-time. Start date according to agreement. Location: Uppsala.
