Department of Blood and Tumor Diseases
We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events within a strong community of colleagues. Welcome to apply!
Our Operations
The Department of Blood and Tumor Diseases is located in the new healthcare building, entrance 100/101 at Dag Hammarskjölds väg. The department features modern facilities with single rooms, new information and communication technology systems, and separate professional and public flows. The radiation therapy department is equipped with the latest medical equipment, including Sweden's first MR-linac combining a linear accelerator with imaging diagnostics, 4 standard linear accelerators, 1 CT scanner, 1 MRI scanner, and 2 brachytherapy rooms. The new construction offers us new opportunities to co-locate the Department of Blood and Tumor Diseases together with the Department of Blood and Functional Medicine, creating new collaboration opportunities with significant potential patient benefits.
Your Assignment
As a specialist physician within the Department of Blood and Tumor Diseases, you will work within the oncology section, based at the radiation therapy department. Your tasks will include working at the radiation therapy department, potential rotation work at Skandionkliniken, and attending various tumor conferences where decisions regarding radiation therapy are made. Development work and collaboration with other staff categories are important.
Research activity is high, and the department also has a dedicated clinical research and development unit. With proximity to the university, you will have the opportunity to participate in research and development within your field. Even though the hospital is large, the distance between our various specialist areas is never far. Here, you will also have the opportunity to develop through stimulating meetings with colleagues and patients, as well as by supervising medical students. Together, we create a challenging and developing workplace where freedom under responsibility is a natural part.
Your Qualifications
You are a specialist in oncology with an interest and experience in radiation therapy. Experience in radiation therapy for head & neck and CNS (central nervous system) is an asset.
You can take initiative, start activities, and make decisions. You are a structured and stable person with good collaboration skills. We place great value on personal suitability.
We Offer
The position is a permanent full-time employment starting according to agreement. We apply individual salary setting. With us, you get benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
