At the National Board of Forensic Medicine (RMV), experts in forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the justice system with the answers it needs. We are currently seeking a summer substitute Forensic Medicine Assistant for the Forensic Medicine Unit in Uppsala. The unit consists of approximately 20 employees who work together to perform forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.

Your Assignment

As a Forensic Medicine Assistant, you will primarily work practically to prepare for and assist during forensic autopsies. This includes, among other things, performing organ removals and sampling, preparing the deceased, and related work in the mortuary. The assignment also involves contact with the police, next of kin, and funeral directors.

Qualifications:

• Relevant education equivalent to at least a high school diploma, or work experience deemed equivalent by RMV
• Work experience from practical work in, for example, healthcare or other physically and mentally demanding work
• Good knowledge of anatomy
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

Merits

• At least three completed terms of study in the medical program
• Experience in handling the deceased

Your Personal Qualities and Abilities

To handle the work, both integrity and personal maturity are required. The tasks are both physically and mentally challenging. They include both fine motor skills and physically heavy moments, requiring good physical fitness. Furthermore, the activity involves handling difficult events and strong sensory impressions, such as strong odors associated with death investigations.

We place great importance on personal qualities as the work requires a high quality awareness and good ability to cooperate. You are a calm and stable person, responsive to the operations and colleagues' needs, and contribute to a good working climate.

The Employment

The employment is a time-limited substitute position for 10 weeks on a full-time basis during the summer of 2026, located at the Forensic Medicine Unit in Uppsala. Start date according to agreement. RMV applies individual salary setting.

Prior to the employment of licensed health and medical care personnel, checks are performed with the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.
