Do you want to help strengthen the rule of law? At the National Board of Forensic Medicine (RMV), experts in forensic medicine, forensic chemistry, forensic genetics, and forensic psychiatry collaborate to provide the justice system with the answers it needs. Every detail can be decisive, and whether you work directly with analyses and investigations or in a supporting role, you contribute to a secure society based on the rule of law.
We are currently seeking a Forensic Medical Assistant for the Forensic Medicine Unit in Uppsala. The unit consists of approximately 20 employees who work together to perform forensic autopsies and issue forensic certificates.
Your Assignment
As a Forensic Medical Assistant, you will primarily work on the practical preparation and assistance during forensic autopsies. This includes, among other things, performing organ removals and sampling, preparing the deceased, and related work in the mortuary. The assignment also involves contact with the police, next of kin, and funeral directors. You will also be involved in the unit's donation work. Other tasks within the scope of the unit's and department's mandate may also occur.
Qualifications:
- At least a high school diploma, e.g., a nurse assistant education, or equivalent education deemed equivalent by RMV
- Work experience from practical work in, for example, healthcare or other physically and mentally demanding work deemed relevant by the employer
- Current work experience deemed relevant for the position by the employer
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Merits
- Documented course/education in anatomy
- Experience with the deceased, for example from autopsy operations, healthcare, or emergency services
Your Personal Qualities and Abilities
To handle the work, both integrity and personal maturity are required. The tasks are both physically and mentally challenging. This includes both fine motor skills and physically heavy moments, which requires good physical fitness. Furthermore, the operation involves the ability to handle difficult events and strong sensory impressions, such as strong odors in connection with death investigations.
The work requires a high awareness of quality and good ability to cooperate. We expect you to be responsive to the operations and colleagues' needs and to contribute to a good working environment. If necessary, other tasks within the scope of the unit's and department's mandate may also occur, so a flexible approach is a prerequisite for the role.
We attach great importance to your personal qualities.
The Employment
RMV is part of the justice chain, and we have high demands on employees' judgment and security thinking, as well as respect for the law and order. As a representative of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you follow the state value system and contribute through your actions to the rule of law, legal security, and trust in the authority.
We conduct background checks for some of our employments by checking extracts from the criminal register. In connection with employment at RMV, an obligation to be assigned to military service may follow. The position may be placed in a security class, and a security clearance with register control may therefore be carried out during the employment.
We apply a competence-based recruitment process where psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work tests may occur. Prior to the employment of licensed health and medical personnel, checks are performed with the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.
Do you also want to contribute to a secure society based on the rule of law?
