Confidentiality Officer at the Swedish Police Authority – Contribute to Safety and Rule of Law

Are you ready for a significant challenge? The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest government agency, employing approximately 40,700 staff members nationwide. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission of increasing safety and reducing crime in society.

About the Service Department

The Service Department is one of the Police Authority's national departments, consisting of three units with a total of over 720 employees. The department is part of the crime-fighting mission and works with citizen services, including e-services and reception operations, develops travel documents and service cards, provides public documents and register extracts. It also handles the agency's administrative matters, the national telephone switchboard, and responsibility for information management.

The position of Confidentiality Officer is located at the Public Documents Section. The section consists of six groups that are jointly responsible for registering and handling a significant portion of the requests for public documents received by the Police Authority. The section's groups are geographically located across large parts of the country, from Östersund in the north to Malmö in the south.

Responsibilities

The work as a Confidentiality Officer is primarily administrative and mainly involves receiving and handling requests for the release of public documents. This is done by reading and assessing the confidentiality of documents stored at the Police Authority and determining whether the requested document can be released. You generally work independently and apply a relatively complex regulatory framework with associated requirements for promptness.

Your tasks also include contacting applicants via email and telephone, and in rare cases, at physical meetings. The role involves contacts both within the agency and externally. Cooperation and collaboration are therefore an important part of the work.

The work places high demands on the quality of the assessments performed. At the same time, equivalent assessments between different requests are central, and to achieve this, you work together with your colleagues around the country on continuous improvement and development work. Other tasks related to the section's mission may also be included in your duties.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Post-secondary education, preferably with a focus on law, social sciences, or similar, or alternatively work experience in laws and regulations governing public activities that the employer considers relevant.
  • Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish.
  • Good computer skills and the ability to learn new IT systems.

We consider it an asset if you also have:

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on law, social sciences, or similar that the employer considers relevant.
  • Recent experience in handling cases at an agency or other public administration.
  • Recent experience in working with confidentiality assessments and handling cases according to the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.
  • Experience in formulating decisions based on relevant laws and regulations.

Personal Attributes

To succeed in the role of Confidentiality Officer, we see that you are analytical, responsible, and meticulous. You are keen to provide good service and have the ability to find a level in your assessments that achieves the right quality while being efficient and handling cases promptly. As a person, you are solution-focused and can work both independently and in a group.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and personal attributes.
