Section's Mission

In special sections within the Public Employment Service, there are specialists for job seekers with disabilities in vision, deafness, and hearing. The specialists include audiologists, deaf consultants, vision specialists, and psychologists, as well as employment officers focusing on SIUS.

The section belongs to the unit of Jämtland/Härjedalen with responsibility for the counties of Örebro, Värmland, Dalarna, and Gävleborg, but other counties in the northern region may also be involved. The goal of our work is to create full participation and equality for individuals with the aforementioned disabilities by providing them support and creating conditions for work or education.

About the Position

The role of the deaf consultant within the Public Employment Service focuses on assessing conditions for work/studies for deaf job seekers and adaptations of work/study places, both technical and psychosocial. As a deaf consultant, you will actively participate in the work of the labor market policy assessment, which involves clarifying abilities, competencies, and conditions for the individual. In all contacts with job seekers, we maintain a supportive and guiding approach.

You contribute to developing the job seeker's knowledge about their conditions and strengthening motivation and orientation towards work. This is done by assessing communication conditions and any support needs during conversations. The work requires active collaboration both internally and externally. Cooperation with other authorities, rehabilitation actors, educational providers, and employers is common in the deaf consultant's work. Documentation is an important and recurring part of the tasks.

The Public Employment Service places great emphasis on digital development, which permeates all aspects of our work. Therefore, it is essential that you have both the willingness and ability to utilize digital tools.

Travel is a natural part of the job and occurs frequently. You should also be prepared for travel that may involve overnight stays in other locations.

Our Offer

The position is a permanent full-time employment that may start with a six-month probationary period. The place of employment is Örebro.

Basic Requirements

  • University education of at least 180 credits (120 points according to the previous system)
  • Alternatively, you have been employed as an employment officer at the Public Employment Service and are assessed to have good conditions to meet today's requirements for employment officers

And:

  • Full communication ability in Swedish sign language
  • Very good experience of working with deaf individuals and very good knowledge of their conditions
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, meaning a good ability to communicate in speech and writing, as well as high reading comprehension
  • Driver's license B

Other Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with various disabilities, preferably in work-oriented rehabilitation
  • Experience assessing conditions for work for deaf job seekers
  • Good experience of collaboration
