The Position and Responsibilities
As a Family Therapist with us at MiniMaria, you will work in an engaged and competent team meeting young people aged 10–18 with risky substance use or addiction.
The work is based on a holistic perspective where you follow the young person's process from initial contact to conclusion. You conduct assessment interviews with young people and their parents using structured methods such as the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and participate in new visits and the presentation of assessments together with the team. During the assessment and treatment period, you follow up on conversations and document according to current regulations. You collaborate closely with the region through treatment conferences and also hold meetings together with the young person and a nurse from the region.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and planning treatment interventions based on individual goals.
- Conducting motivational enhancement conversations and treatment, individually and together with the family.
- Working with both mandated and voluntary interventions, including advice and support conversations with young people and parents.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
MiniMaria is developing its operations according to the new Social Services Act with a focus on accessibility and outreach work. You will contribute to reaching more young people and families and developing our methods. The work is flexible and sometimes involves evenings and weekends.
We Offer You
MiniMaria Botkyrka is part of the unit "Outpatient Care for Children and Young People," which consists of 23 employees and two team leaders, where collaboration and collegial learning are central. At MiniMaria, you work in a small group with three family therapists and one team leader, with close support and ongoing collaboration with regional staff. The work is carried out both in the office and in environments where the young people are located.
With us, you receive supervision once a month, both externally and internally. We offer introduction, continuous professional development, and the opportunity for further education in methods such as Functional Family Therapy (FFT), where you are part of an FFT team and receive regular supervision. As an employee in Botkyrka, you have an annual working time schedule and the possibility of flexible work when operations allow. We promote community and well-being through various activities throughout the year and also arrange an annual gala where we recognize employees' contributions and achievements.
The Ideal Candidate
You have a degree in Social Work or another relevant education, for example, a treatment pedagogy degree with advanced studies in relevant areas. You also have experience working with risky substance use.
Other requirements:
- Class B driver's license.
We consider it an asset if you have:
- Experience working within social services.
- Basic psychotherapy education (step 1).
- Experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Experience working according to Signs of Safety (SoFS).
- Education in FFT (Functional Family Therapy).
- Experience with ACRA (treatment method) and/or ÅP (relapse prevention).
In the role of a Family Therapist, you need to be stable and secure in meetings with young people and families in challenging life situations. You create trust through clarity, presence, and the ability to maintain calm even when the work demands are high. Your relationship-building approach allows you to quickly build trust with young people, parents, and networks, and you meet every individual with respect and sensitivity to their needs.
You are collaborative and thrive in close cooperation with colleagues, social workers, regional staff, and other stakeholders. Through your solution-oriented attitude, you contribute to an open dialogue where different perspectives are taken into account. You see opportunities even in complex situations and adapt your working methods to create sustainable solutions that strengthen the young person's and family's development.
For positions at the Social Services Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
