Recreation Leader for Fritid Järva

Welcome to us

Within the department for promoting and preventive measures, there is among other things the area of recreation. The area is divided into two units consisting of recreation and youth centers, park play areas, short-term supervision under LSS, and an HBTQI operation. The area also runs holiday activities, family buses, and an ESF project as well as a collaboration and follow-up assignment with contractor-driven recreational activities. We have about 65 employees, the majority of whom are recreation leaders. The management consists of an area manager, two unit managers, and several coordinators and group leaders.

The Recreation area is facing an exciting year, and to take the next step in our development work, we are looking for an engaged recreation leader with knowledge and experience in aesthetic expressions who wants to make a difference - is that you?

Your role

As a recreation leader with us, you will be an inspirer and enabler for children and youth. You challenge them to realize their ideas and support their participation in creating a meaningful leisure time. Together with your colleagues, you will develop an attractive and varied content of activities, always in dialogue with the target group. Your work also includes planning and implementing recreational activities, with a particular focus on open activities, as well as collaborating with external actors such as schools and associations.

Your main placement will be within one of the unit's youth activities, but you are also expected to collaborate with and, if necessary, work in other activities within the unit and area. The work as a recreation leader follows a three-week schedule that includes working evenings and weekends, allowing us to meet the youth when they need us the most.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• Post-secondary recreation leader education.
• Current and relevant experience working with children and youth aged 10-15 years.
• Current experience of working in project form.
• Knowledge and competence in aesthetic expressions – theater, dance, visual arts, etc.
• Knowledge in gender equality, gender, norm criticism, and HBTQi issues.
• Good command of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Experience in driving collaboration with the association sector and civil society.
• Experience working with youth participation and influence.
• Experience in outdoor life, nature management, and gardening.

We are looking for a creative, solution-focused, and communicative recreation leader who is active in their daily work. You are self-driven and used to managing and structuring your work effectively. Knowledge and a genuine interest in aesthetic expressions such as theater, dance, and culture are crucial, as you will be part of leading the development of the youth centers' new initiatives in the area.

Our work revolves around the best interests of children and youth – we want to provide them with meaningful leisure time and support their journey to becoming independent adult individuals. Therefore, it is important that you have a mature and coaching approach, an ability to see the world from the youth's perspective, and a willingness to strengthen their participation, influence, and community engagement.
