You play a key role by investigating, guiding, and supporting the families that take in children into their homes. Could this be something for you?
The area of operation for Children, Youth, and Family in Hägersten-Älvsjö consists of units; reception, children, youth, foster care, and family support. Our area of operation is led by an area manager and six unit managers. Together, we are moving forward and helping to create a social service that is modern and characterized by high quality.
The foster care unit consists of three groups led by two group leaders and a coordinator. One group consists of foster care secretaries, recruiters, and family therapists, as well as a group of child secretaries and employees providing administrative support/case management support. The third group consists of contact secretaries. We also have an ongoing initiative with enhanced support for foster homes where two family therapists work in the unit.
With us in the Foster Care Unit, it never gets monotonous. We have very varied tasks, and no day is the same as the other. The work includes travel to placed children, within Stockholm or out in the country. The group consists of several different roles that collaborate and support each other. With us, there are many different personalities and experiences gathered, and that dynamic provides a lot of energy. Even though we deal with difficult issues, we also have a lot of fun together.
We offer
As support for foster care secretaries and child secretaries to conduct social work of good quality, we have developed close support through an administrator and special on-call home case managers. With us, you have good opportunities for professional development based on the unit's competence supply plan, and you are actively involved in developing high-quality support. To ensure a good start at your new workplace, we place great importance on your introduction, and you will receive support from our competent mentors. In addition to regular case supervision with management, you will receive external supervision every four weeks in Gamla Stan.

Your role
Your main tasks are to investigate, provide support and guidance, and follow up on foster homes. Around each child and youth, there is a foster care secretary and a child secretary who plan and follow up on the care for the placed child. The work involves travel both in the local area and to other parts of Sweden. We work according to BBIC with the support of Signs of Safety, applicable legislation, and based on the guidelines of the city of Stockholm.
The social committee's responsibility is to carefully follow and evaluate the care of the child/youth in the foster home. The focus for the foster care secretary is to support and guide the foster home to ensure that the child/youth receives safe and secure care.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- a degree in social work
- experience in authority exercise
- experience in foster care
- good collaboration skills
- ease of expression in both speech and writing
It is meritorious if you have:
- Kälvestensmetoden
- Guidance of foster homes
- MI
- Driver's license B
As a foster care secretary, you need to have personal maturity and be a secure and stable person. You need to have a good empathetic ability that you combine with the ability to create good relationships with those you collaborate with. You have a problem-solving analytical ability and are confident in making decisions. You value differences and understand that background, culture, and group affiliation can affect yourself and others in different ways. Since the work involves meeting people in crisis and/or with a complex life situation, it is very important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people in a respectful manner.
