What We Do and Want

As a leisure counselor, you work proactively and relationship-building with children and adolescents aged 10–16, especially those who lack organized leisure activities or are at risk of norm-breaking behaviors.

You serve as a safe adult role model and a link between youth, families, and the leisure offerings in the municipality.

About the Position

Do you want to make a real difference for children and youth? Tyresö Municipality is looking for leisure counselors who want to work on building relationships and support young people towards a safe and meaningful leisure time in Tyresö Centrum and Granängsringen.

The assignment is part of the municipality's crime prevention and early intervention efforts and is funded through support from the Crime Prevention Council. The goal is to ensure that more children and youth have access to organized leisure activities and positive contexts.

Job Responsibilities

The work involves being present in Tyresö Centrum, Granängsringen, as well as in schools and other environments where young people gather. Through a proactive approach and continuous contact, trusting relationships are built with youth in the area. The work includes conducting individual meetings with young people and, if necessary, with guardians to create a better understanding of their situation.

An important part of the assignment is to map the youth's leisure interests, needs, and any obstacles that prevent them from participating in activities. Based on this, the youth are motivated and guided towards associations, cultural activities, and other organized leisure activities. This may also involve providing practical support, such as with registrations or contacting associations.

The work also includes establishing and maintaining good contacts with the association sector to create more opportunities for youth to participate in activities. Participation is followed up, and the youth receive support in developing a long-term and sustainable leisure engagement.

Furthermore, collaboration with municipal operations and other actors in the area is included to strengthen the support around the youth. The work is documented continuously and contributes to follow-up and the development of working methods.

The work primarily takes place in the afternoons, evenings, and sometimes weekends, when the target group is most accessible.

Who Are You?

You are a safe and stable person who builds trust in meetings with others. You are proactive and responsible in your work and have the ability to see what needs to be done and take your own initiatives when the situation requires it. At the same time, you are flexible and can adapt to different situations and needs. You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. You are structured in your work approach and find it easy to plan, follow up, and keep order in your work. As a person, you are relationship-building and have a good understanding of other people's different circumstances, which allows you to meet people with respect, attentiveness, and an inclusive attitude.

Experience in preventive work, collaboration with schools or social services, or work within associations is meritorious. Language skills beyond Swedish, English, and Spanish are also meritorious.
