Research Project Leader in Rural Health
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
The Office for Research, Education, and Innovation (FoUI) leads, initiates, and follows up on the region's engagement in issues related to research, education, innovation, and knowledge management. The office consists of seven units tasked with driving and participating in the region's development to achieve the region's goals within the office's areas of responsibility.
At the Center for Health in Rural Areas (CHG) in Storuman, you will work in an engaged team focused on research, development, and innovation regarding good and close care in rural areas, the health of the Sámi people, recruitment, and education. The purpose of this is to increase knowledge about how healthcare needs can best be met for the population in rural and remote areas throughout Sweden. Here, nursing and medical students and doctoral candidates are supervised, and the unit conducts many different national and international research and innovation projects.
You will come to a creative and collegial work environment with an open discussion climate, where digital working methods are well established. The work can largely be conducted remotely, but travel is included.
The position is a fixed-term project employment for 2026 linked to our national assignment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities include conducting research to map health in rural areas and systematically evaluating and compiling existing research in the field. Therefore, you have experience in research work relevant to health in rural and remote areas, as well as familiarity with knowledge compilations and scientific publishing.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree and documented experience in conducting research in relevant areas for this position, such as health, public health, or environmental medicine. You have a strong ability to independently initiate, plan, and carry out research projects.
You have substantial experience in quantitative research with an epidemiological approach. Furthermore, you have experience working with advanced statistical methods and analyzing data from large databases. You are well acquainted with relevant analytical tools and have good methodological awareness.
You possess strong analytical skills and are accustomed to working in a structured and independent manner. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Experience collaborating with other research environments, authorities, or community actors is an advantage.
