About the Department of Physics
The Department of Physics conducts strong and expanding research with several different focuses, such as organic electronics, nanotechnology, photonics, space physics, and theoretical physics. The department is part of KBC, the Chemical-Biological Center at Umeå University. We have a strong focus on interdisciplinary research and excellent access to modern instrumentation and infrastructure for analysis.
At the Department of Physics, which has around one hundred employees, education in physics is offered, including within the Master’s program in Engineering Physics, teacher training, and the technical-nature science foundation year.
Nearly 1,000 students study with us each year, corresponding to 300 full-time students. Our international activities are extensive, and we typically welcome many students from other countries to our courses each year.
About the Position
The position as a teaching assistant encompasses 25% for 12 months. The purpose of the position is to support the work with Engineering Physics. The application deadline is March 1, 2026, and there are three available positions. The salary is determined by the number of credits you have completed.
Responsibilities
The work as a teaching assistant means that you will be employed by the university and will work on tasks related to Engineering Physics at the Department of Physics in the areas of quality (quality assistant), collaboration (collaboration assistant), or IT (IT assistant).
Qualifications
To apply for the position of teaching assistant, you should:
- be registered as an active student in Engineering Physics at Umeå University,
- have good social skills and be interested in working for the best of Engineering Physics,
- have a good ability to work independently as well as in a group,
- have completed at least 60 credits in Engineering Physics at UMU by the start of the position.
The selection among applicants will be based on the applicant's qualifications and suitability. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
Conditions
The position is 25% for 12 months. Start date is August 1, 2026. The salary is determined by the number of credits you have completed.
