University Lecturer in General Legal Theory

The Department of Law is one of the larger departments at Stockholm University with approximately 150 employees and around 5,500 students.

More than 70 teachers are fully engaged in teaching and conducting the research that underpins the education. General Legal Theory

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities include teaching and examination in general legal theory. Teaching in other related subject areas may be included. Additionally, supervision and examination of thesis work will be part of the role. The position includes teaching for 70% of the annual working time. The remaining working time is dedicated to research and development primarily in general legal theory as well as administration.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, the candidate must have demonstrated pedagogical proficiency and have obtained a PhD in law or possess equivalent scientific competence.

All teaching positions at Stockholm University require that the applicant has the ability to collaborate and is otherwise suitable to perform the tasks.

Since teaching may be conducted in English, the applicant must have a very good command of English.

Assessment Criteria

Particular and equal weight is given to scientific and pedagogical proficiency. Administrative ability and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community are also valued. Informing about research and development work is also a merit. Other skills and experiences relevant to the position and the tasks included are also considered as merits. In assessing pedagogical proficiency, previous experience in teaching and examining in general legal theory and/or a large number of students is particularly valued.

Sufficient IT skills to handle the various systems used in teaching are required.

Higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways is advantageous.

About the Position

The position is full-time and temporary (substitute) for 12 months. Start date is August 15 or by agreement.
