Psychologist at Försvarshälsan Skövde

Försvarshälsan is an integrated occupational health service with the Swedish Armed Forces as its client. Försvarshälsan differs from conventional occupational health services by also providing health care for students and conscripts, as well as medical readiness during military exercises and operations.

Försvarshälsan Skövde currently has two employed psychologists and is now seeking another full-time psychologist.

Skövde Garrison and the Garrison Unit

Skövde Garrison is one of Sweden's largest military garrisons. The garrison consists of several units from the Armed Forces, all with the primary task of training and developing combat units. The breadth of the training activities includes assault units with tanks and armored vehicles, supporting units such as artillery, command, medical, and other logistics units, as well as military schools with professional officer training at various levels and staffs for several command levels primarily within the army.

Within Skövde Garrison operates the Garrison Unit. The unit is responsible for providing competencies and services in several operational areas. The more extensive areas consist of the deployment of training and firing ranges from Herrljunga in the south to Älvdalen in the north, health care within the framework of occupational health for employed personnel and daily health care for conscripts, as well as security services and protected transport. The unit also provides support in sports and wellness, including responsibility for fixed training facilities, various workplace environment functions such as environment, fire protection, and electrical safety, as well as support for conscripts through conscription consultants.

Main Responsibilities

The psychologist's work within the Armed Forces includes psychosocial workplace and health issues at the individual, group, and organizational levels. This includes stress and conflict management, crisis and support conversations, guidance for managers, and participation in rehabilitation investigations. The responsibilities also include educational initiatives and development work.

You will work in an organization with varied and independent work and have close collaboration with the other staff at Försvarshälsan. Duty at other Försvarshälsor within the Armed Forces may occur as part of the regular position.

Qualifications

  • Licensed psychologist with at least five years of experience in the profession
  • Driver's license (driving is part of the job)

You have self-motivation, are customer-oriented, and enjoy working together in a team with other professional categories to support the employer in health-promoting work. Flexibility and good collaboration skills are prerequisites for the position.

Other

The position is located at Försvarshälsan in Skövde but travel within Sweden may occur. Duty during inconvenient hours, as well as irregular working hours and duty at another location, may occur.

The employment is a civil permanent position full-time, starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date 2026-06-01 or by agreement.

Information about the Armed Forces and the Recruiting Unit:

Skaraborg Regiment, P 4 has operations from Älvdalen in the north to Remmene in the south. The leadership is located in Skövde where the majority of conscription training takes place. The regiment's task is to recruit and train conscripts and personnel for two armored battalions, a heavy transport company, and a brigade reconnaissance company. P 4 is also responsible for a brigade staff that, in times of crisis and war, will lead large parts of the army's units.
